Hmmm I want an M3 in the future with a V8 M5 Engine in it, now I know what to do with the M3 Engine left over
Numann (I think thats right) can tune 500hp out of the M5 Engine and its natrally aspirated.
They can get 360 out of an M3 engine to. Hmmmmmm 360hp RWD cooper. Even nicer hehehehe. You'd be the fastest Road car! Imagine that, 360hp with the weight of a mini. NICE!

Where's the waiting list.....

In power we are restriced by the technical regulations. 340hp is the best we can do, keeping the engine reliable. (Belcar are endurance races, so reliablility is a big issue)But it's enough. We drove an E36 M3 with the same engine for two years, with success. And we're a small team, with a small budget.

Welcome to MINI2, and best of luck with your venture, we'll all be watching closely and willing you on!

Are you hoping for victories this year, or just finishes?

Thanks guys.

The engine is a 3.0l from the E36. If you go above 3.0l displacement, you get all kinds of penalties (air-restrictors and stuff). So it's best just to stay below that. We're a small team, and so is the budget.

I can't really comment on victories yet. We had to miss all free practice days so far, and maybe we'll have to miss the one on Thursday before the race weekend. We only worked on the car during weekends, so time was not on our side. I personally think it's a miracle.
And in the TB class, which we run in, there's one hell of a competitor. A government backed Gillet Vertigo with 425hp Alfa 3.6l V6. Gillet is a Belgian brand: www.gilletvertigo.com
But there will definitely be finishes. That's the big advantage of running an engine that we already raced two years with.

I can't release any pictures yet. It won't be shown to the public until the race weekend (or hopefully the free practice day). Another 7 days to go…

Now where is that extrea $20,000 I had lying around? On second thought Maybe I'll just have to drive my 115hp Cooper for a little.

Good luck. It would be a great image for MINI to win on the track shortly after the launch. I'm pulling for you.

Thanks again for the cheers, guys. I wonder if you could help me out with something. If the Cooper S3 starts at the race next Sunday, would it be the first new Mini that is raced? It would be a cool thing to put in a press release, but I'm not sure of it.

If we are talking racing as oppossed to sprints(autocross) or hillclimbs then it might well be beating the John Cooper Challenge by a full 6 days! - If you count autocross then no as the guys in the states have already done a few - I guess the picture from Laguna Seca I've seen might also be of a race -
