It looks like there will soon be some lightweight wheels in 16" or 17" 4x100. However, the offsets are listed as 42 on one wheel and 46 on another. How would this affect the fit/performance?

unless youre referring to stock dimensions for the 16,there are tons of lightweight 16" and 17" wheels with a 4x100 bolt pattern...there have been for years. i think both the offsets you listed would fit fine over the calipers, clearance issues would only arise from tire choice.
