Question GS Maybe not

I noticed that the times were not competitive yet with GS. Maybe when they get sorted.

Wait until the Petersburg Pro where some Nationally known and very fast drivers will compete.

There will be five of us at Petersburg and then I'll be running my Cooper S in Rome, NY the following weekend.

Any pics of the race?

It must be cool to see Minis at their limit!!

If I don't see pics, I will be forced to drive to the nearest racetrack and do some pics of my brand new Mini (hope my insurance company doesn't find out )

Cheers!

Question

Does the MINI exhibit any of that FWD trait of lifting the inside rear tire under cornering? Hopefully not much...

That is a Cooper without SSP, but on R compounds. I would imagine my S with Hoosiers will definitely do it as well, but it does take a lot. It's not the same as VW's and most FWD'rs.

I should be getting my 215/45R16 Falkens and 215/40R16 Hoosiers mounted today, got my wheels yesterday.

brian are you running your cooper S at petersburg? or not enough miles. i think you should drive it around in circles til its broken in (of course at varying rpm).

here are some good pictures from http://www.onelapadventure.com/otcstartingline.html
i still dont understand the VIR sticker....

Thanks for the post, Russ.

That's the same car I drove my demo in (at Flow MINI in Winston Salem).

Hope they do well. (I'm excited by proxy!)

Russ, Cooper S was official being flogged (with exception to rev limiter) tonight at 650 miles (in 6 days). I'll still shy away from the redline for another 350.

I'll be running the Cooper at the Pro's because of the disadvantage to the Cooper S at Pro's (no LSD with a drag race start).

Look for my post on the 215's I'm running...

brian, good to hear about your car, i know you cant use it because of the class youre in but there is actually a lsd in developement right now. guess the equal drive shafts were over rated. i was also reading that power steering was failing on some of the cars because the power steering overheated and it would only work again when it cooled down. maybe another hypothesis as opposed to DSC? they actually removed the fan and ducted cold air to the power steering. anyway...

MINImiller, that car is not mine, i have no idea what wheels those are (i have a good guess but i dont want to start up false facts, as you can understand), and he's using some sort of hoosier or kumho tire (DOT approved). in one picture is clearly shows dunlops though so thats up in the air as well. i encourage you to send him an email if youre interested. right now hes got his out-of-office message up, but i'm sure he'll get back to you.
