Offline | 215/45R16's fit fine. As of today, I've got 215/45R16 Falken Azenis' mounted on a 16x6.5 45mm offset wheel (Enkei RPO-1) and they clear fine. The Falken is known to be WIDE in it's sizes, so that should make any 215 safe. We knew Squid(?) ran the 215/40R16 Hoosier R Compound so this was just finding out that a slightly taller diameter still fits. To be honest, you could try to squeeze a 225 on there, but it would have to be a low diameter, like a 225/40 or something, which I don't think is out there. And even so, you'll be bumping the fender flares at full compression. If I get a chance tomorrow (night), I'll post some pictures. The usual disclaimer, test fit it yourself before buying... Offline | I have his wheels, long story, but I wanted white 17s, dealer needed silver, so he swapped them and got the whites for me, when my car comes in, we put the whites on mine and he sells the silver 17s with tires. Both our cars are identical, but mine is in "limbo" at the port in UK somewhere. Happiness is a Mini on a go cart track! |

Offline | More then nice guy Garfield is my son, I started running a Mini in 1967, we (my wife and I) stopped shortly after he was born, about 4 years ago he got involved in Solo II, got us back into it, so the MINI was a natural new Car for us to run when it came out. He knew I wanted the white wheels for the street and the dealer knew it too. Happiness is a Mini on a go cart track! |

Offline | About 14.5 lbs. Be careful if you decide to run them. The 16x6.5 is a 45mm offset, which is perfect for the Cooper/S. The 16x7 is 32mm which sticks out WAY too far. - 2005 G Stock '05 MINI or it's back to a Miata in C Stock - 2004 G Stock 2nd place Pro Solo, 9th Place Solo II - 2003 STX 5th place Pro Solo, 6th Place Solo II - 2002 H Stock Pro Solo National Champion |

Offline | How do I get to your gallery??Let's see, 14.5 plus 22.8 for 37.3 lbs. Did you weigh the original before you buttered up Dad. Just wanted to see the total unprung weight diet. All the 225-40-16 tires run about .4 inch shorter and .5 inch wider cross section (but measured on 1/5 inch wider wheels) than yours. You think the added 1/4 inch outward would still rub the spat?? What does the suspension look like for clearance?? Thanks for spending the bucks so we can pump you for results. Cooper S Red/White/White, Air, Computer, Cloth, DSC, Cold Weather. August build. |

Offline | The 17's with run-flats were exactly 50lbs. The problem with clearance is the shock. In order to safely fit the 225, you'll want to run a 40mm wheel, which brings you even further out. It might fit, but I'm not testing that. Plus, I also have the Hoosiers coming in a 215 so it served a double check. - 2005 G Stock '05 MINI or it's back to a Miata in C Stock - 2004 G Stock 2nd place Pro Solo, 9th Place Solo II - 2003 STX 5th place Pro Solo, 6th Place Solo II - 2002 H Stock Pro Solo National Champion |

Offline | The width seems to be more of an issue than the height, but you're also talking about adding an inch more diameter than I'm running with a 215/45R17, and you're slightly taller than stock. I would start with a 215/40R17 for its lower diameter benefits and better guaranteed clearance. The S is geared very tall, and the Cooper's power could always use lower gearing. - 2005 G Stock '05 MINI or it's back to a Miata in C Stock - 2004 G Stock 2nd place Pro Solo, 9th Place Solo II - 2003 STX 5th place Pro Solo, 6th Place Solo II - 2002 H Stock Pro Solo National Champion |

Offline | Thanks for the input. Told you we'd be pumping you. Looks like masking tape on the shock to check rubbing. Sounds more like the old Mini everyday.Cooper S Red/White/White, Air, Computer, Cloth, DSC, Cold Weather. August build. |

Offline | pics of 215-40-16 Hoosier We knew Squid(?) ran the 215/40R16 Hoosier R Compound so this was just finding out that a slightly taller diameter still fits. That was me. Here are some pics showing the fit of the Hoosier 215-40-16. Diameter-wise, no problem. Width, fender wise, OK, but much wider would make the tires wider than the car. Width, strut-wise, the fit is close. A 225 on standard offset rim could be very close. A summary of the tire threads is athttp://omor.com/mini/tires.php . Offline | Great little site, except that the red Cooper in the pictures is not Helix's, it's mine and it's an S. I'm slightly concerned with the width of the Hoosiers. They are wider on the 6.5" wheel than the Falkens, at least that's the way they appear, but it could be that the Falkens have that bead protection which keeps the sidewall from looking as cantelevered. But, I'm running a 45mm offset, as opposed to your 48-50 stock offset. So, I have no concerns about the Hoosier around the suspension, but I'll have to pull out the straight edge to check Stock legality. We'll see this week when my Hoosiers come. I'm really bummed that I'm going into the Rome Tour with new Hoosiers having NEVER raced on them with the MINI, and only racing the S in the rain on Kumhos and then today, running the S in the dry on Azenis' on a VERY tight course (did it in 1st gear the whole way). I definitely see myself doing better at the Pros in my co-driver's Cooper on Kumho's (although we could legally run my Hoosiers as well). - 2005 G Stock '05 MINI or it's back to a Miata in C Stock - 2004 G Stock 2nd place Pro Solo, 9th Place Solo II - 2003 STX 5th place Pro Solo, 6th Place Solo II - 2002 H Stock Pro Solo National Champion |

Offline | I have no concerns about the Hoosier around the suspension, but I'll have to pull out the straight edge to check Stock legality. I recall my rulebook said tires must fit within stock fenders. The Hoosiers don't rub the fenders, so in that sense they fit. But if take your straightedge from the trailing edge of the rocker panel to the outer edge of the rear diffuser/underbody skirt, you'd rule (heh!) that even the stock tires don't fit. If you hold the straight edge vertically, you should be OK. Close, but OK. Thanks for the corrections for http://omor.com/mini/ . |
