2014 MINI Cooper Concept

Previewing what will come next for the quirky British brand in terms of styling and features, MINI has released the Vision concept.

Though it still follows closely in line compared with MINI’s current styling, the Vision gets some small additions that bring along a modern look. Specifically, the Vision gets full-LED headlights, a slightly new take on the classic hexagonal grille, air intakes and outlets around the front wheel arches, some new chrome accents, and a hood scoop.

The Vision concept is made out of something called “organo metal,” apparently a lightweight material made by pressing various fibers into a composite. MINI says that it is a lightweight, strong material with a texture similar to fabric.

Interior style takes a pretty wild leap away from what you might find in a 2013 MINI, though a large screen is mounted in the center of the dash where you would currently find the speedometer, a classic MINI design trait. New additions include elastic fabric straps that have been incorporated into the doors in the shape of the stripes on the Union Jack, that serve as storage for a water bottle or magazine.

Other new innovations include a storage system that the brand calls the ‘click’ system that now makes it possible to customize the positioning of different small accessories such as smartphone holders, tablet holders, a storage box or even a small safe. Interior light colors can also be custom chosen, along with the floor lighting, which can be put into “Disco” mode for a dancing display of floor lights.

Customization seems to be the focus of this concept, and is probably the key trait that will find its way into upcoming MINI models.
