Scotland Mini One Diesel

I currently own a beautiful Mini Cooper Cabriolet, I am now doing alot more travelling than before and am considering trading this is for a diesel Mini One, What do you think?
I am worried that the diesel will feel under powered in comparison to my cooper, I went from a Cooper S to a Cooper and initially felt a big drop in power.
What are peoples experiences of the diesel?do you really get better fuel economy?
Thankyou

You'll not be disappointed with the D, they are a hoot to drive, and will not let a Cooper beat them - seriously - just ask anybody who's been on a run with me in the pack.

And remember the D has just been uprated.

They are great, and keep up with Coopers, especially on the hills! There are too many Mini Adventurers on this thread

You would not regret it, but you would have to use the gears a lot more to keep the engine on the torque. They handle the same as a Cooper, are the same inside, nearly as fast, but do 60mpg, yes they are really a lot better on fuel to answer your other question! Get one ordered!

I would keep the cabrio and live with extra costs if you can.

I have One D and they do keep up on the runs providing the cars are moving, from a stand still they do get left behind a little, I found this out on the Cotswolds run. They can be chipped though, and this will make a difference. But you will notice the power drop, but also the better mileage.

Fuel economy is always good but the saving on insurance is bloody amazing!

I was quoted £3200 to insure a cooper - just £2k to insure a OneD. (I know its alot but it never helps being male, 18 and in Manchester!)

It a group 4 - fantastic!

Good luck with getting one and if you still want speed look at the ray west remap, I didn't know about it until aston told me but it looks bloody good!
