Hi all,

I'm on the look out for a fun, economical diesel, so of course I have a Mini on my list.

I know that there is a One D and a Cooper D, and chili, salt and pepper, but this means almost nothing to me. Is there some kind of breakdown of trim levels for the Mini or could someone recommend one that would meet my needs?

I'm looking for economy, good handling and air-con Leather seats a bonus.

We've just bought a Signum (3.0 V6 CDTi) and can't keep 2 thirsty motas, so the MG (ZS 180) will have to go

Unfortunately there isn't a MINI One Diesel available in the new model at the moment.

There is however a Cooper Diesel which has some impressive MPG stats (65 combined) and very low car tax ratings (£50 per year)

Hi, with your budget you will be looking at one of the 1.4 75bhp ONE D's. This forum is for the 2nd gen ONE - which is a 1.4 petrol. They have not announced whether they will actually make a ONE D again. So far only a 1.6 Cooper D is planned.

Post a "wanted" advert in the Classifieds section of MINI2, crawl over www.minicherished.co.uk and check out the usual places such as Auto Trader and such.

Yea, check out MINI Cherished, you should get one with about 45K mileage (75bhp) for around 8K.

All I'll say is make sure it has either the Salt or Pepper pack, as these contain all the nescessary options that you will need, but Air Con is an option, so make sure it has that if you need it. Secondly, don't worry about the performance figures, they don't really mean muich once your out on the road - just take it around a corner at full chat, and you will love it!

I have just had a quick look on MINI Cherished. There are only 10 ONE D's under £10k and only one of these is under £9k - priced at £8495. It has an ok spec, but no alloy wheels. The link to it is here: [its on page 4 of the stock list]

So it looks like £9.5k will get you alot more car for an extra £1.5k. Just depends on your budget really, at the end of the day the Diesels do hold there value slightly more....
