Offline | Bit of an update - made a few mods. Hi all, God its quiet in here at the moment! I just thought I'd make a little progress report on my car.Well as some of you know I made my first mod by changing the indicator lenses to clear ones from mikeythemini, great simple mod and anyone thinking of doing it should, believe me if I can do it anyone can! ![]() The next mod I made was an Alta aerial which I bought from Lohen, for some reason I don't have a close up pic of it on this computer. Its the 4" one, I thought that maybe 2" would be a little too short, its great and really improves the look of the car, the reception has hardly been affected either. ![]() I received some free Lohen stickers in the package with the aerial so I decided to stick them on my car, I got a largish one with the logo on but I bodged it up so had to remove it. Talking of stickers I went of the Guinness World Record attempt run which was organised by Derek Woodman MINI of Blackpool (new world record set! Was such a great night and has given me the bug to attend some more MINI events) and I got some free newministuff.com stickers so I have also added them to my car, along with the sticker we got from the event. Few pics.. ![]() These little mods (if you can call them mods) really changed the look of the car, and made it stand out from the hundreds of MINI's owned by non 'enthusiasts' for want of a better word. Heres a pic of it a few days ago. ![]() Finally, now I'm back from Uni for three weeks and able to work more hours to earn some extra cash I decided to have some spots fitted, to be honest it was the Guinness World Record night that prompted me to have them added, after seeing a fair few MINI's with them. I really like them. I've had some problems with getting the lights coded (see my other thread here: http://www.mini2.com/forum/general-d...ng-advice.html) But hopefully it will all be resolved to my satisfaction. I haven't got any decent pics of the car with the lights on, but here are a few I snapped earlier in a rush on the drive. ![]() Thats it! James. Forgot to add that I have also had my damaged alloy refurb'd by the dealer, I had two others with really light kerbing done at the same time, so all the wheels are perfect again ![]() |

Offline | Thanks, will be great when they are working . I like the stickers at the moment, but they are only on the glass so it will be easy to remove them (shouldn't leave any marks) once I get bored of them. I have a bug to make some more mods but dont want to do anything which would cause alarm bells with the Insurance company. I see from your sig, that you also have R99's good wheel choice! ![]() |

Offline | Nice one James, the car is looking very . I'm loving the spots. I was like you, after owning a MINI for a bit then seeing another MINI flash at me with Spots, I just had to have them, and now class them as an essential MINI extra!! Loving the things you are doing with your car - and i'm glad you are keeping the Diesel forum alive Where has everyone been?![]() P.S. I didn't know about the World Record attempt, I would have loved to have attended... ![]() |

Offline | Shame you didnt know about the event, it was detailed in the events section of this very site ![]() Thanks for the kind words about the car, there are so many things I'd love to do to it, but as allways, being a young driver insurance is a major issue and there is noway I would want to remotley void my insurance by not declaring something. I think a Cooper S standard front bumper would look cool on the front, but then there is the issue of what to do with the rear bumper, as I obviously dont have the twin exausts like the S does. Again though, I think that is something which I would have to tell the ins company about.James. P.S why is the diesel forum allways so bloody quiet?! Maybe everyone has desterted in favour of the Cooper D? |

Offline | James, try this link. http://www.mini2.com/forum/mini-one-...s-yours-9.html These pics aren't the best, but it gives you the idea of the ridiculous spec of my OneD I have got some interior shots, but they are on my Comp at work, I will upload them next week when I return. Failing that, i will take some more pics, actually today would be ideal, the weather is great for a run up into the hills to get some decent shots, so watch this space!!! Still loving my MINI and I have owned one for nearly 4 years now, I still say that for s per mile, it can't be beaten! IMO of course!I was in a Vauxhall dealer yesterday (My mate was picking some mats up) (Thought my actions would need justifying ) and as I quite like the new Astra VXR I was overjoyed to see that they had one in the showroom. I had a look around it and a sit in etc, then looked at the price £22.5k - I was gobsmaked, that is "Nice Diesel 3-series" money (Nearly).I thought, why am I even looking, my MINI only has 16.5k miles on it, and I still love it, it is just the excitement of new toys I suppose! Offline | There isn't an exhaust outlet on the original OneD rear bumper Ste, but it would probably still fit, and would look o.k if you kept the original OneD exhaust - if you changed the zorst, you would probably have to start cutting plastic!![]() |
