Offline | Boo, i'm still lurking. It has been quiet, no new news or anything. James, it will look the Biz with the spoiler & S filler cap, just like an S actually! Really pleased with mine at the moment, seems to go really well with the cool air we have been getting at night and in a morning just recently, seems to have that little bit more boost - or it could just be my imagination & its just my right foot that needs some control!!! ![]() Pics of your new items would be much appreciated as always James, although I don't think I need to tell you that! ![]() Are the high mileage boys still out there, what are the records now? I've got 20,700 miles on mine, 6,600 to go before the Inspection 1 service!! |

Offline | Y/B OneD, pics will be forthcoming once theyre on the car! lol. I'm really looking forward to getting them on. Once again its going to Woodmans for the work. Then its just the task of pestering BMW to agree to replace all four alloys under warranty, but my local dealer is really dragging his heals with it and its starting to get on my nerves. Its been over 7weeks since the issue was flagged up with them, and still nobody has come to inspect the wheels. (its worth pointing out that this is NOT Woodmans, but a slightly more local one)Glad to hear yours is running well, mine is spot on at the moment too. Are you still considering the Aero Kit? My back box seems to have got even more throughty now its 'bedded in'. ![]() The car's going on its second MINI event in a few weeks if all goes to plan, I'll be heading down to the Cotswolds run. Should be a nice day out. Regards, James. |

Offline | Nar, I've gone off the idea of the Aero kit, it would look so cool and all that, but I think i'll be swapping the car sometime next year, so I would get enough use out of it. I will just get a new CooperD or S (My pining for a 'sporty' exhaust note might influence me) with the aero kit, or a Clubman D but i'm not sure about the styling of that yet, I need to see a nicely specced one in the flesh first! Would be interested in hearing what your back box sounds like, I wouldn't mind putting a nice exhaust on mine, think it would make the back of the car look better. Can't you ask Woodmans about the wheel issue? Sounds like they value their customers alot more than some, I suppose you would have to wait for an answer from the other dealer first! What is actually the issue, is the finish on the wheels blemishing or something? Cotswolds is a great part of the country, did a mountain bike event there in April, WHEN IT WAS SUNNY!!! and it was brilliant, some great b-roads as well! Si |

| MINI2 Regular | mini d... hi fellow d owners... nearly 38,000 miles and 50mpg is not bad... shame the 6speed gear box is rattling so badly, the clutch is getting heavier anf the blower motor for the heater need replacing for the second time but is now out of warranty and could well cost over £500 + vat! great engine though... no oil used, best mpg of 68.9 on a gentle run up to manchester recently and shell optimax diesel makes everything a little smoother and faster! worth a few tank fulls! anyone realise that its recomended the tappets are adjusted at the third service? the dealer never told me but the handbook states it should be done... its not covered by tlc and costs £300... any advice? |

Offline | Interesting facts there Blank. What is the problem with the gearbox, do you know? I've heard that the Getrag 6-Speed is almost indestructable! Thanks for the info on the tappets as well, but £300 just to do that, how long does it take? |

| MINI2 Regular | Tar very much! The gearbox rattles at idle, when you dip the clutch it stops, I understand that this is a common fault of the 6speed box and a high number of cooper S suffer this fault. I understand it to be the idler gears in the gearbox, BMW are meant to be finding a cure for this... I have been told that its not un common to require a gearbox rebuild at 80,000 miles ish or earlier if its rattling bad! Spent the day yesterday driving the new corsa VXR, my fathers new toy, very fast, very stable, very BLUE, the mini still felt good to get back in and drive and a lot more relaxing as the corsa flyes every where and i think that would drive me mad living in london! Tappets take about two hours and they should fit a new gasket seal at the same time! |

Offline | 140.000 km happy MOD-Driver Hi. Our MOD has now more than 140.000 km on the clock. It is still a nice car. We love it. Some small problems like the windows motor not working properly and the driving lights motors sometimes not working (both require a strong cuff on the right spot). Around 120.000 km the car started to make a strange and nasty noise when under full engine load. BMW couldn't find the problem and suggested to exchange the turbo (would have been 2.000 + €). A turbo specialist found that the outlet manifold gasket was defect, because a bolt went loose at the connection between manifold and turbo. As they opened the turbo loader for a check they completely renewed all wear and tear parts of the turbo (cost 400 €). Anyway ... it's a very reliable car and we hope to do another 200.000 km with it. //lascu |
