| Mini2 Regular | One D Servicing Hi, my Mini One D is fast approaching the 100,000 mile mark i am starting to think about the Inspection II Service, also i need to get the oil and filter changed.Have any people reached the 100k mark and had a service done, if so where did you take it (Mini Franchise) or (Local Garage) and if any people don't mind how much did it cost? Synter Mini Coventry have quoted me £380 plus any additional parts !!!With the oil change how easy is this to do yourself, what oil do you use and where do you get the oil filter from, Mini (same garage) quoted me £115 inclusive of parts labour etc for an Oil and Filter change. Any advise would most helpful. Dan Mini Newbie |

| MINI2 Regular | Hi Dan, Wow! 100,000 miles... thats not bad going!, I am nearly up to 42,000 miles on a 53plate and due for an inspection II service soon.# My dealer in north London was quoting around £280 pounds all in for older cars to keep them in the dealer network. I have also found on the internet a non BMW dealer who is much cheaper PCS - BMW index and use only BMW parts unless otherwise requested. Worth a call as I have called them twice for advice and they have been very helpful though I have never used them. Hows your car handled 100,000 miles? Still going strong? |

| Mini2 Regular | Feels really good, we bought the car when it had 86k on the clock so can't comment from new, but compared to ther diesel cars of this size and a lot less miles i have driven can't complain. Thanks for the link on PCS-BMW will call them and ask few questions, have you used them before? Mini Newbie |

| MINI2 Regular | Hi, not had any experiance with non BMW service centres but as my car is due its Inspection II service in 1600 miles I may consider it. Mini do offer a Mini Basics service package, its the same but cheaper and worth looking at. I still think that non main dealers that specialise in certain makes are the way to go for older cars as they want & need your business so seem to take more care and understand the art of servicing cars rather than doing what they were tought in training... Let me know if you use them! On another note, I just covered 589 miles on a tank of fuel and got 53.4mpg! That included the first 90 miles crawling in London trafic!! Very pleased... |

Offline | With the diesel I would recommend over servicing -the prices of the diesel engine parts are unbelievable if they fail and negate any fuel savings for example the fuel system -filters and additive to clean the injectors regularly-- I think the injectors are over £350 each and best kept in good order , like wise all the other components ,every job on the diesel also takes longer, the, clutch is horrible to do ! |

| Mini2 Regular | Totally agree, when this service has been done, will be looking at having it serviced every 6000 or 7000 miles, like you said parts are mega pricey for the diesel. I have been putting Redex Diesel Advance (50ml) each time i fill up. Don't notice any difference but am sure that it keep the important parts nice and clean. What is the general life span of a clutch on a diesel? How much do you reckon to have it replaced? Just out of curiosity, keep telling the other half not to ride the clutch all the time. Offline | The clutch life is way better than the petrol car and 100000+ miles common, toyota quality, unlike the french rubbish in the petrol cooper -the dealer charges I think 10-12 hours so £1000-1200 in labour -independents half of that ,the clutch around £200 complete so a dear job all round- cooling system paramount for maint as overheat the engine = a shocking amount of cost also have come across oil system problems with oil switches and loom melting giving no warning light -also expensive -the cam snapped in half!!!!!! the diesel is a real economic car and performs well ,as long as there are no failures then they cost as much as a Ferrari!! |

| MINI2 Regular | My car is around 900 miles from an Inspection II service so I started to look into costs. A main dealer who has sold and serviced the car from new quoted £476 inc vat for the service, front pads, brake fluid and coolant change. A Mini specialist wants £171 all in for the same service plus £86 pounds for pads + brake fluid. Another Mini dealer advised I buy an extension to my TLC pack at a cost of £300. Thats my inspection II service, next oil service and brake fluid changed for £300! And a full Mini main dealer service history! The pads I will buy and have fitted at a local garage... I think a good deal! |
