Question more info on the diesel mini?

anyone have more info on the new diesel mini other than what came out last summer (2002)? i've been looking around online, but can only find old info. any word on when they'll be out in europe?

i've heard the yaris - which has the same oil burner that the mini will get - gets awesome mileage. i wish bmw would consider bringing these stateside in small quanities a la vw golf, beetle, jetta. considering how much gasoline bmw's larger cars and suv drink, you'd think they'd have a reason, if only to bring their fleet average mpg up (make room for the x7 you know). i know most folks in this forum don't seem too concerned about mileage, but i for one would love to see a mini w/ even better fuel economy.

The engine configuration will not be identicle to the Yaris, it will be 're-tuned' for the MINI.

Would tend to agree with you. Comparing the fuel consumption of the MINI with the competition purely on the size of the car, the MINI doesn't come out too well.

As Paul has stated it will have a retuned Yaris engine. The car will only be available in the ONE guise.

White Cooper BioDiesel

Anyone know if that engine will be easily convertaable to BioDiesel? Apparently most diesel cars after 1996 will work - the conversion is not complex. What I don't know is how that affects tuning/performance etc.

I will be driving the Diesel in May for a review on the website.

This leads me to expect an early July launch.

I would also expect plenty of information at the Geneva Auto Show.

Boo! Hiss! Only bought the Cooper for the bits you can't have on a One. Wasn't that fussed with the extra poke. Quite fancied a Diesel'ed Cooper.

Ant,

I'm sure that people will Cooperfy their Diesels! Must say if it was refined and quick then the idea of big MPGs is very tempting!!
