Question Mini Diesel

If the Press release is in May, do you know the expected price range for the diesel?

Let's go motoring

Not yet, but that could become clear at Geneva in March.

I certainly hope so.

Just received an invitation to geneva with a flyer of the diesel mini. Its official name is MINI ONE D. There are some nice pictures of a yellow mini one d, looks pretty nice.

wanted to add the pics but unfortunately upload's not working. will try again later.

Thanks for the pics...I like the letter D forming part of the badge on the rear.

The yellow smudge is clearly a Cooper!

i cannot tell what this smudge really is, but on the flyer, it actually looks like something (majoermike?) is whizzing by... look at the very left side in the back, there's a white car that is also blured

and paul, they are not using a mobile phone but an iPAQ

my Dealer told me today that the diesel mini has probably to be driven at very high rpm if you want to get some power out of the engine and it therefore is mainly a car for italians and Portuguese citizen sorry, but he did say that

btw, here is the translation of the german text in pic #1, well, at least I try to write english:
There can only be one. MINI One. Now available as diesel. The best choice for those who often drive long distances with skipping gas stations. Even while cruising in the city, the MINI One D is a "might" (or whatever). A "force package" (sorry, that's a german word, dunno an english equivalent) that even with little rpm convices with a high torque. Elasticity with fun factor (whatever this means).

still waiting.. for a better time

Funny, as of all the MINI's, it delivers peak power loewst in the rev range by far!

I agree Paul. All the Torque (power) is produced at Low RPM.

I would not like to hit the red line in the diesel as for:
1. It wouldnt reach the red line
2. Rev counter will probably only be red line at 5000 rpm

You wouldnt get anywhere if you kept on revving it all the way to its high revs as its that bloody slow!!

5000 RPM being kind to the Toyota Diesel Engine.
If only the engine bay was slightly bigger and then 1.9 PD could have been had. Now that could of been something. A 130 BHP OR 150BHP

Or Ford's TDCI 1.8 Range?

Can anyone think of any decent diesel engines that could of been had instead of that 75bhp Toyota one?

Mini D Price

The recommended retail price for the Mini One D IS £11,385 on the road.

Standard features over mini one are:-

ASC+T
Rev counter with outside temp guage
6 Speed manual gearbox (Getrag)
CVT Not an option
Full aluminium light weight engine
2nd generation bosch turbo-chgd common rail directinjection

And one main differance is in the power steering,it is now Hydraulic Power Steering System (HPAS)

Wonder why ASC+T is standard? I'd have thought it was if anything less necessary than on the petrol ONE.

Red/Black R56 Cooper Stripes, CHILLI, ASC+T, MINI HiFi, Piano Black Dash, Red Colour Line, Heated Mirrors/Jets, Spare Wheel, Smoker Pack!
Mods - Cooper S pedals, Cheqered interior mirror, chrome side repeaters

On slippery surfaces too much torque can be problematic.
