| MINI2 Master | Who wants firebreathing MINI TD? All this talk of Diesel MINI's and I'm getting all nostalgic for my old 1991 Vauxhall Nova 1.5TD. I'm really missing the performance to MPG ratio. The old Nova was very quick, (0-60 in 10.9 seconds) with it's Jap (Isuzu) engine and returned a faithful 50+ MPG even when being pushed very hard. I even saw it again today for the first time since I let go of it in October last year, and it still looked very, very clean and tidy. Aaaaahhh... Enough of all that *sniff*. It was a bit of a ***** to drive. ![]() Anyway... I've said it before - I'd be the first in the queue to buy a decent MINI TD in Cooper form. A 1.7 or 1.9 engine in a similar vein to the VW Golf GTi TD and I'd be in heaven. Does anyone else agree with me on this? I'm sure there'd be a market for it in Europe and I do hope they think about it. Maybe we should start a petition. ![]() |

Offline | With the rising fuel prices the way they are, it might be an alternative. All we need is the auto manufacture to make performance diesel cars, like as you said VW GTI TD. I would consider it! Charles BRG/W MCS |

| MINI2 Master | Performance TD cars are getting quite popular over here. Peugeot, VW and Seat are all making some pretty quick diesel cars ATM. Peugeot even do a turbo diesel version of the 406 Coupe, which would have been an unthinkable combination a few years ago. I just wish MINI would see it... |

Offline | The only Diesel that we have in Canada that comes to mind would be VW Golf TDi. I am not sure if Mercedes Benz still sells a Turbo Diesel in Canada anymore. Charles BRG/W MCS |

Offline | I drove a Y2K Bug with a TDI 5spd. and it was great! I gave up...sadly..for a larger car which...I gave up for the Mini! I considered a Golf TDI "very strongly" before the Mini, but the Mini won anyway because of all the other stuff... Xenon, trip, seat options, suspension options, electronic options...what else??? ![]() Regardless of the enging choice, the fact that you can custom build your car to meet your needs is a perfect reason to buy, hands down! Hint, hint Mini competitors... ![]() ------------------ '03 Silk Green/White Cooper Built Jan 9th, 2003- Sport Pkg. #2, Heated Pkg. #3, Xenon,Auto A/C,Auto Dim Mirror, Trip Computer, MFSW, Chrome i-racer Mini Cooper - Chili Red/White, Sunroof |

Offline | a high-performance mini cooper diesel? I would be first in line for one!.... Surely its only a matter of time, im sure market demand would be very strong for such a variant. Sorry, but the weak diesel in ONE guise only is no alternative to my coop |
