Offline | The GREAT 2004 Model Year Rumour Mill Diesel I know the D is a very new car and mine is due mid August, however after reading about some of the planned revisions to the Cooper(S) I wanted to check if the diesel was going to be altered as well. Can anyone here who has just got a D confirm if it has the power adaptor in the boot or not? (this is quite important for me, as I sometimes carry a small portable fridge) If you know of any other changes due for the diesel (such as 3 spoke steering wheel, standard mp3 player) please post. Think I will certainly be having a word with my dealer in the morning as well! |

Offline | My car - July 02 - has a power outlet in the boot but think that may have been stopped. Don't think the diesel would be any different from any other current model. Someone on MINI2 should be able to tell you for sure if the latest cars have them. Don't know why they'd drop it though as it's useful and cheap to implement. I'm curious as to what changes you've heard about for the S? I saw/heard my first D the other day. Sounded really quiet as it passed me while I was walking. Cheers, Ken. Red/Black R56 Cooper |

Offline | Ken You must have been walking very slow to get passed by a diesel :-D The changes they are talking about in other threads are the 3 spoke wheel, standard mp3 head unit and return of the power outlet, although it seems to be mostly US banter so not sure how much would apply over here. |

Offline | Evidence exists in the boot of my D of a location for the power socket - a blank cap! My dealer considers an after market fitting should simply be a matter of wiring it in to an appropriate circuit. I guess we should interpret 'simply' as an hours labour. |

Offline | Thanks Harpo. Suppose it will be a trip to the dealer then, think I will ask them to wire it up and try for a discount on the Sony mp3 head unit rather than wait over another month for an 04 build. At least that way i've still got my trade in value intact and I get the MINI sooner rather than later! |

Offline | DEALER REPLY Just got this email back from my dealer. Find it easier to email them as I then get everything in writing ------------------- MP3 player is not yet available as a dealer fit option but when it does it is not compatible with MF Steering Wheel. Nor will cars from 04 come with the compatibility as standard. As for the Power Socket in the boot, they deleted this option as it was only there for the Mobility System for reinflating a punctured tyre with the puncture repair kit. They realised that this can be done from the cigarette lighter in the front which it standard so did away with the one in the boot. The Product and Marketing Analyst that I spoke to at MINI informed me that this is not going to become standard again, however, it may be possible to fit this as a dealer option, price not yet available. ------------------- Can someone with a diesel try plugging a mobile charger or something similar into the 'hole' in the boot where the power socket should be just to see if it works? |

Offline | KenL, You asked and I obey. http://www.mini2.com/forum/showpost.php?p=441546 BTW, since September 2002 MINI's have had the boot socket deleted. I only found out when I picked mine up last year in October 2002. I was quite bis-chuffed to say the least. I truely hope that my replacement (for my seriously faulty) MINI Cooper S has the boot socket back! ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Offline | Please post in the main Great 2004 Rumour Mill thread, it's for all MINIs, not just the Cooper, S, or One.... http://www.mini2.com/forum/showthread.php?t=36150 I'll close this to avoid too much duplication. |
