Question Euro 4 emissions directive?

Does anyone know when the One D will become compliant with the above regulations. The reason I ask is that once the emissions level is acheived then company car drivers will no longer have to pay the 3% extra tax put on the diesel engine.

I think that the regulation comes into force sometime in 2005, but many manufacturers are expected to beat the deadline by offering even cleaner diesel options well before.

Hi Apial,

Toyota pride themselves by having E4 compliant engines in both the Avensis and the Corolla, each using the two litre jobby.

Logic would suggest that compliance will filter down to the Yaris in time for the regs.

On the other hand, would they be prepared to spend part of their R&D budget on upping the 1.4D, when the company car market in that sector is so small? Who knows?

The 1.4D is only about a year old at the moment, and I would have thought a production span of at least a couple of years before any new developments begin to appear.

One thing is for sure - I'll be keeping a close eye on things.

I hear that VW have announced that the new Golf will be available with a E4 compliant diesel. I read somewhere that in Germany that many manufacturers are producing the E4 versions earlier than expected because of emmisions taxes. I hope that MINI follow suit.
