Offline | Driving Instructors - Why Did You Pick The Mini? Just wondering, what made the driving instructors amongst you pick the MOD for teaching in? It seems to be a popular choice and I was just wondering if it was for any particular reason (other than its the best small car on the market!). It's given me some food for thought because I keep on seeing job adverts looking for new instructors..... and i've already got the car ![]() |

Offline | Hi, Mine was a simple choice really, I"d just bought the breadknife a new mini one at the same time that I was looking for a new job ( saw the same advert). I thought I like driving this car so much I"m sure the young uns will as well. So I decided to use the car after qualifying and consider I made the right choice. The car has attracted the customers in the first place, they love it. Reasonable mpg (petrol) for its use, this week got 37 mpg. Changing to a D at the end of the month. Good handling, smooth ride, well laid out controls, pity BMW dont support a driving school scheme like other manufacturers ie Renault £1000 cash back to ADI"s. |

![]() Time for CHANGE ! | Fact ! Most peoplewho learn to drive choose a car similar to thrt thet they were taught in. So loads of privateer driving schools are trying to get MINI's (any MINI'S mind you) as learner cars, why ? well handling , performance, manners, etc etc. unfortunately the factory can't make enough to supply BSM, AA etc, but the privateers are doing fine!.most passing pupils sign up an buy...guess what..................................you already know thhe answer. |

Offline | Although I live and run a driving school in Oxford I would have used a mini anyway . The one and the D are very similar cars for tuition. The D gains on fuel ( 50+ MPG ) , the turbo gives good exceleration , has traction control as standard , and is good for the manoeuvers and finally the pupils love it .I have a few pupils who work at BMW so I get to see things that perhaps I should not see , so that is why I dont post messages to confirm or deny rumours. Regards colin. |
