Offline | Have now had a MOD for 3 months and covered over 4K miles. Great car BUT I have yet to get near the combined cycle fuel consumption (58.9mpg) even on long journey and only average about 53 in daily commuting (33 miles, mainly motorway). The extra urban figure of 65mpg seems unattainable. In fact the combined cycle figure seems unattainable. Has anyone else found the fuel consumption disappointing? |

Offline | 53 is disappointing, that seems pretty good to me. Most people never seem to manage to get the combined cycle figure. Most ONE and Cooper ownersget quite a bit less than 40mpg despite the combined figure of about 43. I didn't get near the combined figure in my last car either so I suspect the figures are a bit off for all cars. Red/Black R56 Cooper |

Offline | What wheels/tyres combo are you running on? Are you using the OBC for the consumption figures? The consumption figures are for steel wheels with the 15" tyres. Our OBC under reads the consumption by 5mpg, so do a check on it if thats where your consumption figures came from. Use the OBC to tune your driving style to get max mpg. Also turn a/c off, and get into top gear as soon as possible. |

| TUNIT DX | mines doing 48.7 did improve a bit when i fitted k & N panel filter to 53 but is back to orginal have done 9000 miles know it will run better if i drive at about 55mph but mostly on motorway doing 50 -70mph but i have got 17" on thinking of putting steels back on for winter will post if mpg changes but can not grumble when its doing 550miles on £32 |

Offline | I"m getting 48.8 at the mo, calculated by myself not the obc which reads about 7 under. All the miles are generally lowish speeds ( learner drivers). The ave speed is showing 18 mph. For the current type of useage I dont think its too bad, but would expect more if I was doing motorway. |

Offline | I've done about 3k in mine, and privoding it's driven sensibly (i.e. 70mph on m/way) I'm getting 612 miles out of a tank against a stated 625, so I'm not complaining! As far as the MPG goes, it's returning between 48 and 54 MPG, but I don't really like pootling along... ;-) It's not the fastest car in the world (which is one of the "disadvantages" following test drives), but it isn't designed to be! But it's comfortable, reliable, and God bless heated seats! |

Offline | I'm getting 60.1mpg according to my OBC, average speed 38mph over the 5000 miles I've done so far. Seems pretty accurate as I have done 660 miles on one tank. Mostly sedate motorway driving (M25...hence 38mph !). It seems the best economy is in 6th gear between 40 and 60, after that it tails off quite quickly. |

Offline | 53mpg ?? Lucky you, my wifes cooper does no more than 29-31 even on a run. Mini must have been going down a very steep hill when they measured their official mpg figures. And before you say it must be our driving style, my BMW 320d compact sport does 48 - 52 mpg in everydayd rivng conditions - almost exactly the quoted combined figure. My conclusion is that all mini's drink a lot of fuel and they had to lie on the official figures or no one would buy one !! |

Offline | I've just done 1100 miles in my relatively new OneD, and happy to say just put in my third tank of Diesel, so a pretty good avergage. Most weekly journeys are so short that the engine hardly has time to warm up!! Certainly much better than the 25mpg of my last vehicle. ![]() |

Offline | My dad drives a brand new 320d. We picked it up last week and on the way back (the journey was about 100 miles) he got 67mpg. That is from a car with 150bhp and a serious amount of torque. Also, as the engine gets worn in it will give even better mileage. I personally think the mileage from the MINI ONE D is very disapointing especially when you compare it to a diesel like a bmw 320d or Golf TDI. I mean a 320d is heavier than a MINI D, the engine has twice the power of a MINI D and it still gets mileage better. Something is wrong there ![]() |

Offline | Just got back from a trip to Italy last week. Have been driving under different conditions (mostly main roads) and got accordingly also different mileage. Driving at 70 to 80 mph (110 tot 125 km/h) I got about 57.5 mpg (4,9 l/100 km). Driving at 85 to 95 mph (140 to 150 km/h) I got around 48.5 mpg (5,9 l/100 km). Stepping on it at 100 to 110 mph (160 to 180 km/h) I got 41 mpg (6,9 l/100 km). Found out that driving with a cold engine and driving at higher speeds than the speed limits does quickly lower the mpg. In everyday use (I do step on it and mostly on short trips) I hardly get any better than 45 mpg though. |

| MINI2 Regular | I had demo of a Mini 1D for a day, did 400miles and it only cost me £21.30!!! It's amazing, cant wait til i get mine. My dad drives a split new bmw 530d which is 218bhp and a torque of 500Nm, jesus its quick!!! but anyways, thats beside the point, my point is- its like 3 times the power of the mini, and he can get 47.9mpg and its only got 120miles on the clock so shes still a bit "tight" so it should improve on that, (the 47.9mpg is with the cruise control on the motorway sitting at 90mph) Bryce |
