Offline | Don't get annoyed, hes in the right place now, ha ha!! Mine seems a bit hesitant when it has been parked for 1 hour after running hot, and then starting again once cooled down a bit. If it gets worse, i'll be paying a visit to MINI hospital, but at the moment it isn't that bad. |

Offline | Do the dashboard lights dim when the starter fails to start the car? If so, it sounds like a battery problem. If the battery is OK and the engine doesn't turn, it's most likely to be the started motor. |

Offline | The lights (dash lights) don't go dim, it just will not raise to idle (approx. 800rpm) it just sounds really rough & it clatters, (like it is coughing) at around 500rpm for approx. 3 seconds. I wonder if there is an accurate way of diagnosing it, other than what BMW do, that is resetting the ECU and installing new starting software? As people have said before, this problem seems to only occur in cold weather. |

Offline | I don't think new injectors will solve the problem, and I don't think injectors are the source of the problem either, but that is just my opinion, based on facts, experiences, and other knowledge that I have gained over the past year. I have started to leave the starter running for approx 1 second longer, and it starts fine. Thanks for keeping us up to date on your findings, and please continue to do so. Si |

| MINI2 Newbie | Cheers Yellow/Black OneD! My MOD is showing the same symptoms: Sometimes it does not reach idle for 5 to 10 sesonds, sometimes the engine just dies unter heavy vibrations. It seems to be a common problem to the MOD to have air in the fuel system. So, some gaskets, hoses or the rail ramp may be leaky! This problem will be solved at the 2nd service (first inspection) at about 35,000 km (which is due this thursday). Ingo BTW: this seems to be my first post on this board! Hooray! ![]() |

Offline | I had a similar problem where the car would not reach idle speed after start up. Took about 5 secs and would stall if move off attemped. The fault was identified as a faulty camshaft sensor ( no problem since this was rectified ) Dont ask me what the sensor does tho. |

Offline | nightmare Hi, Just wondering if anyone can help, i have a MOD and experienced the same type of problem with starting. I had the engine software upgraded in November but the fault has now come back and i am losing patience. I am waiting on a response back from BMW UK as to what to try next. If anyone can help let me know.... Cheers |
