Unhappy Yay or Nay options!??!

Hi peps!!

I trying to write up a list of the options I want on my Mini One ready to play some dealers of with!!

Some things I cant decide on and arnt to sure about!!

Xenon Headlights - Are they worth £350!!?! And how much is a replacement bulb!? Ive heard that if a bulb goes out on Merc's, the bulb is £99.98 and they have to re-programme the volt converter using their computers as they trip out! Costs £150 in total just to have a bulb replaced!!

Heated Seats - Worth it, or is a good fart enuf to heat the seats up!?

Visability pack - I wouldnt mind having the heated windscreen just to fill that button on the dash, can this be bought seperatly as an option!? The rain sensing wipers etc dont really float my boat!!

Heated washer jets + mirrors - Have u actually ever needed them?! everyone seems to have this option, so I thought Id ask! are the mirrors controled via a switch?!

And last of all, do u think playing of dealers against each other will pay of and what are your experiances and freebies you got out of them?!

Take care!!

Andy

My 2p!

IMHO...

Xenon - Looks cool, especially the headlamp washer jet covers. However, I believe it is just a toy. Afterall, is a jet of water enough to get rid of bug deposit on the head lamps without the need of additional elbow grease? I think not! The MINI2ers who have this option will correct me if I am wrong.

Heated seats - Not for me. I set my temperature inside the car at 16 deg C! Unless you get into the car naked frequently in the winter, I do not see the point of this option.

Visibility Pack - Don't hold your breath. It is still not available. Check out the latest thread posted by blade929 on this subject. I was told by my dealer the heated wind screen cannot be retro-fitted.

Heated washer jets and mirrors - They came in handy on the few cold days we had in Thetford this year. However, I have heard others expressing their concerns that the mirrors may be covered in salt/mud deposits as the water is evaporated away. So they may not be suitable in areas where salt on roads is a frequency occurrence.

As for playing dealers against each other, I just cannot be bothered. Besides, I like my local dealer (she did not bet an eyelid when I asked for the roof to be painted in Lime Green ). I got a full tank of petrol, freebie key ring and umbrella when I picked up my car.

That's my 2p.

I think you might aswell get the heated seats as they are a good option.

If you only want the visibility pack just for the button to be filled in you could always get the climate control as doesn't have an empty button.

I quite like the heated jets and mirrors. The mirrors are good on a cold day but you can't turn them off...not a problem in my view.

I doubt this helps but O well

He he!

Lime Green and Fuschia (Chili Red is a nice red IMHO) are my 2 favourite colours, that's why!

The paint job cost me just a touch under 500 GBP including VAT, but it was worth every penny of it.

Climate does not have heated windscreen - it is an extra option - I did check when I spec'ed my car

I think Xenon is the only option really beneficail, from a safety / visibility point of view, and they look cool.....

I agreee that the washers might move dust, but definitely not dried-in flies.......

The other options are icing on the cake, IMO......

IMO .... everyone loves a fully loaded car , but not all options are worth it , especially on trade in.

What sort of budget are you considering for extras and what are extras have you decided ou are definitely having?

Xenons....The bulbs should last for the life of the car. There is NO filament to burn out. It works similarly to a carbon arc light, electricity jumping a gap to produce light. Accidents are a different thing, as are stones.

Heated seats....I used to think as some of the rest of you do. Then we, my wife and I, got an Audi A4 1.8T Quattro that came fitted with heated seats. They are GREAT! Even when it isn't all that cold. On an extended drive they are particularly nice, sorta like an extended massage for your back. I don't think I'll own another car without them.

Visibility package....Doesn't really float my boat either.

Jets n mirrors......Jets? Isn't that what windshield washer anti-freeze is for?! Heated mirrors...This I like! To bad they come as a package.

Motor on, Dudes and Dudettes!!!

Thanks for ur replys!!

My budget has a maximum of 13k!

My options so far are:

Metallic paint
Salt pack
A/C - Man'
ASC+T
Sports Suspension
Sports Seats
Leather S/Wheel
7-Hole Alloys
TLC
Chrome Inserts

This takes me to around 12,300!

Now thinking about Heated Seats, do they heat ur back on a Mini, or just ur ass!?!

And, is Climate Control really worth the extra £230???

Take care!!

For £13K you could get a Cooper with the options you have currently chosen, if you drop the metallic. Otherwise your spec is very similar to my Cooper. Good choice

Is the sports suspension now available on the One?

For my money, Xenons are not worth it - the standard lights are fine. Can't see the point to heated seats, but I've never had them.

Climate control was No. 1 on my option list. IMHO it was worth every penny of it. Once you have set it to the desire temperature, you can forget about it. No more argument with Mr DK about the interior temperature!

Talking Mini one Options

I have got a Mini one and I went mad with the options list! I have got almost every option you can have baring a couple. In my opinon the Xenon lights are worth every penny off the £350. They give brilliant light at night and look cool as well. you also get the brilliant headlamp washers which you can show off to your mates. They are also good at getting people walking on the side of the road very wet!!
Heated washer jets and mirrors are not an expensive option so I had them. The heated mirrors are on all the time but in the winter they are a god send. The heated washer jets are waste of time becasue the washer bottle is not heated so it can freeze up in winter. Climate control is also a big hoot with me. I have had it on my compnay cars for a while now an it is worth every penny in the Mini. With Manual Air con you are either hot or cold. You get hot you switch the Air con on you then get cold and you switch it off again. With Climate control you just set it to what ever temp you want and leave it. Its really nice. Sorry this is such a long reply, it must be the carsalesman coming out in me

All the best

The visibility pack would be great (if you could get it) - but updates we had was that it was not going to be available until Jan next year.

Heated front screen is brilliant - I've had this on a few Fords, and the auto dim-dip mirror is superb - got one on my 3 series!

Switch is not available as an individual item, but as a complete control cluster with the three dial knobs, normal one is 64 11 1 502 214, with the 'visibility package' the part number is 64 11 1 502 215. I don't know the price!

Cheers for the info peps!!

I have now decided what options I wish to have!!

* Pure Silver Metallic Paint
* 15" 7-hole Alloys
* ASC+T
* 2 Spoke Leather S/Wheel
* Chrome Bumpers
* Heated Seats
* Manual A/C
* Salt Pack
* Sports Seats
* Sports Suspension

But now!! (Here we go again!!) I done some calculations on what a Cooper would cost with the same spec!

Mini Cooper with above and Peeper Pack = £13,285!

So now, Im gona see If I can get a resonable insurance quote on a Cooper, If I can, then I mite have to get that!!

Any ideas!!! Im starting to **** myself of here!! Lol! And, should I go for the black roof option if I was to get the Cooper, or be diffrent and tay silver!?

Take care!!

Andy

That's cheap! I was quoted £2500 for insurance on a cooper by MINI's insurance. So £1600 on an S is great imho

Speak to friends/MINI2ers/family and find out which is the friendliest and most helpful BMW/MINI dealer in your area and go with them. Freebies are less important than service methinks

Hope that helps!
