Superchip Bluefin

What's to stop a Bluefin from being used on more than one ECU?

Thanks

Ive had the bluefin upgrade done

As far as I know 2 things:

1. It registers itself against your car only
2. It takes the original settings from your ECU to store them, so even if it did work on another car you would only be uploading original settings Thats how the chap from superchips explained it to me anyway

That sounds about right. The car's ECU will have a unique identifier and the firmware/software on the Bluefin will detect this on first connection and then only allow transfers to and from that ECU.

I suspect it will be able to store both the original and modified maps on-board, but it will be impossible to use on another vehicle without reprogramming the unit at the factory.

(This is my 'best guess' explanation, offered as an incompetent mechanic but accomplished software engineer )...
