My One C Gurggles!

I picked up my totally fab and amazing One C two weekends ago and have been having a ball ever since I have done over 900 miles in a week and a half but i have been quite gentle, not letting the revs go above 3000 and not throwing her about.

I have however noticed that sometimes when i am accelerating there is an undertone that sounds like a gurgle and she also occasionally does it when remaining at a constant 70 mph. (This morning is probably the noisiest she has been yet).

Has anyone else experienced this? I mentioned this to the service dept at the garage but he wasn't familiar with this, its going in on Friday and we're are going to go a drive however it only happens from time to time so knowing my luck Friday won't be one of them

Could be some air in the cooling system. Get them to bleed it. Only thing I can think that would make gurgling noise without noticeably affecting anything else.

It was acceptable in the 80's

I hear the same thing sometimes, like there is a big bottle of water in the cup holders sloshing about - but there isnt.

Let me know if you get anywhere. I thought maybe something to do withe aircon?

Sorry Dave but i didn't get any aircon and it doesn't seem to matter if the fan heater is on (not quite the same thing i know).

When i first spoke to service dept the guy asked me if i had a MCS, he says that quite often new drivers experience that with them but its due to the engine oomph and exhaust? When i told him it was a One that was when he got a bit lost!

Will certainly let you know how i get on on Friday however i am not actually that hopeful because it is not a persistent fault.

I like Root Gingers idea (just because it is one) so i will certainly ask him about that.

How long have you had your car, has this noise been ongoing for you too?

If it sounds more like a growl when under accelleration, then it is the air rushing through the airfilter.

Nah its definately a watery sloshy sound. I dont often hear it, mainly when the car is just started and i first accelerate off - but only sometimes.

I have only had the car a couple of months and have heard it maybe 5 times or less. As you say Laura, not a persistent fault and so hard for the dealers to locate it

Good luck!

Sorry Dave mine is actually more of a growl and over the last couple of days it has definitely become more pronounced, is that normal then Jon? When i first got the car the engine was so quiet, there is quite a difference now!

I will ask about the sloshing in a 'my mate has' kind of way and see what he says, il end up going to the garage with a big list

Hi Mini Laura

O/T but I didn't realise you'd got your new car, it only seems like last week you were ordering it

When can we see some pictures of her?

Nicky

Ive never noticed this on my cooper, will have a listen for it though!

In my experience with dealers, i end up having to force them to fix something, they always fob it off and say it's either a characteristic of the mini... One thing to listen out for is rattles and any knocks on the steering wheel, if you get any get it straight back to them to sort it out.

Hi Nicky

Got her two weeks early and had her for two weeks now, and she now has just over 1200 miles on the clock (ive never had more fun in my life!!!!) I am so glad i saw your car and ordered the PW, she was so gorgeous sitting in the forecourt that i actually had a wee tear in my eye (cant believe i just admitted that!)

If it ever stops raining and i can keep her clean for more than 10 mins i will definitely post photos, had a really good one of one of my mum and dads hens standing next to her and one of my horses (both retired) with his nose inside the car (with the top down) but i lost it when the digital camera decided to die

Sweeney you were dead on, apparently it is a trait to make the car sound sportier (waste of a drive by the mechanic then) but i am definitely going to listen carefully in case it gets any worse. Apparently i wouldn't have really noticed it before now as she needed driven in to get things working as normal.

I bought mine from Henri Brothers in Glasgow and my sales guy Colin Topping was absolutely fab and actually talked me out of a couple of options he thought wouldn't suit the car (particularly due to my reasonably tight budget) but this is the first time i have dealt with the service department so cant really comment. They did certainly take the time to listen to my ramblings so its a good start! Definitely couldn't fault the sales side though, originally went to Harry Fairbairns in Irvine in Ayrshire and they were a total nightmare with no product knowledge!

By the by, any bug blood removal suggestions by the way, its soul destroying!!!
