Offline | What age is your MINI? The power steering does whine, it's in it's nature. My former boss once said it "sounded like a tie-fighter" when I was parking my Cooper in the work car park. You hear it less on newer cars than older ones though, not sure what they changed to quieten it though. |

Offline | sorry to harp on but.... Wine is a drink. Wining and Dining is an evening activity, probably a prelude to "ladies and gentlemen" Whine is a noise - Whining is the noise nade by small children and MINIs Please do not get them confused.. Thank you.. |

| Amiga 500 to PS3 20 Years | Adrian, sentences start with capital letters. You do not use capitals in the middle of a sentence unless it is a name of something. What is "nade"? Using two full stops at the end of a sentence does not make up for missing them out earlier on. ![]() ![]() It was acceptable in the 80's |

| Amiga 500 to PS3 20 Years | Back to the thread, everything sounds normal bigpoppa81. You'll find the car makes the noise all the time but once you get moving it's harder to hear and gets a bit quieter as the system is not under as much strain. ![]() It was acceptable in the 80's |

Offline | When we had a Cooper in summer 2001 it was worth driving through drive-throughs to get your diet cokes or whatever just for the reaction of a "it's a MINI", but also the whining noise it would make as you crawled around the sharp corners of a take-away. |

Offline | Noticed a similar whine beeing made under the bonnet, brother thought I had fitted some kind of blower thats how good/bad it sounded. So tried to find a solution and it ended up being the air conditioning unit working overtime in the summer heat. Switch the A/C off and see if this is the source, if not good luck! Offline | Just been out with my firend in her 03 Cooper and really noticed the whine! My 06 Cooper S doesn't sound anything like a whine in fact it's more of a grating noise Do you think I should get it checked out?![]() |
