DIY More Performance...

Hi!

I am trying to get the most of my mini One without doing ECU remap(at least for now).

I've only got a KN panel filter, and now i've got two new ideas but i have a few questions...

New Spark Plugs... Which are the better ones? Denso?NGK?Bosch?

I'm really thinking in removing the cat(maintaing the stock exaust system) but i'm affraid the car would be very loud... Anyone tested it? And hp gain? does it worth it!!!

Sorry for my bad english!!!

Don't want to be negative, but I doubt the panel filter and spark plugs are going to make any noticable improvement in power.

Removing the cat would make for less exhaust restriction, and perhaps a very small power increase. I don't see why it would be loud with the stock exhaust still in place. Of course, it's most likely illlegal to remove the catalytic converter.

Let us know if there is a noticable power increase from the things you do.

Honestly, I've tried a lot of the products out there. For startes and this will not give you horse power, but it will keep your MC from stalling when steping on it.

1. Change the Factory Cables (Spark Plug Wires)

2. Change the Coil as the Factory does not shoot out as much sparks as after market.

3.Exhaust from the Cat Back. Invidia or MyMini are less expensive easy to install and better performance than a Magna Flow or Borla.

4. Defenetly a 15% Pulley, You will see the difference once you have this change.

Why from the Cat Back. Well the Factory Header to Cat is quite good and quiet. If you change to hearder, you will spend some $ and you car would sound louder, plus be carefull with exhaust welding and modifying. So will spend a lot of $ to gain 3hp not woth it.

So, stock MCS with Exhaust, Pulley, Instake, you should be around 195 to 205hp. Plus you will see the difference.

Enjoy...?

Thank you for your answers...!!!

But remember i have a MINI One!!!

By the way with the panel filter and with fuel that i use(BP 100 octane) i can notice the difference.. The car revs up more easly and i have just a little more top speed (about 195km/h) in straight.

And the eml light ? how am i going to turn it off?

am i going to see some flames without the cat?

INNuendo.... if youre getting 195 km/h (121MPH) then I certainly wouldnt complain as MINI state that the top speed of MINI ONE is 112MPH! you car is 9 MPH faster than it should be!

Check this. http://www.mini.co.uk/UK/html/model_range/mini_one/techSpec.html

Thats not a bad thing i think

but... i want more!!!

I remind you that i have 175/65/r15 tyres so in a straight i can be almost side by side with a stock cooper!

i'm going to remove the cat and put new spark plugs and then i tell you how it feels...

by the way as anyone got a mp3 or wav file of a mini without cat but with the stock exhaust???

Try the Bluefin ECU up-grade ?. Was told it will push up the power to 120Hp Its only abt 95 seconds and can be done at your home carpark !. Just plug it into the OBD, follow the simple display instruction and bingo !

I did it on my MCS.

I tend to agree, not much u can do to increase on the Mini 1. Spark plugs, exhaust does not give u the ooommp if thats wat u looking for. Its also illegal to remove the cat in the exhaust. Might be wrong but the mini1's engine is very much the same as the MC except the ECU setup .
So good luck with your up-grades.
