Offline | I think AMD closed down or was taken over by another company, not sure if they stopped doing the one click as a result? |

| "I'm kind of a big deal" | I've had my oneclick for a few years now and its the best mod i've ever done to any car. Its still very much available and allows you to upload the standard or modified map as many times as you like. They have recently been taken over by Big Boys Toys as you can see from my cut and pasting skills below: Business as usual for AMD: AmD Technik Under New Management But Business As Usual As of Friday 9th February 2007 AmD Technik, one of the UKs' most respected tuning houses has been bought by a consortium comprising of Essex based VAG specialist Big Boys Toys (BBT) and Surrey tuning experts Mega4. Both of these companies have huge experience in the VAG performance tuning market and see a bright future for AmD Technik. Shaun Hollamby, BBTs' Managing Director who has a VAG motorsport background which goes back over 30 years, said, "The opportunity to expand our business by purchasing AmD Technik is a hugely exciting proposition. For many years I have been a great fan of AmDs' technical expertise and look forward to the challenge ahead." Joint partner in this venture is Surrey-based tuning specialist Mega4. Simon Howarth from Mega4 and new Managing Director of AmD Technik said, "As with any new business coalition there will be alot of hardwork to realise the potential but the experience and product knowledge of those people involved will ensure that AmD Technik has a bright and successful future." |

Offline | Hi All, Well guess what, i finally had the guts to go out and spend the £300 for a Bluefin, from Lohen.co.uk Well, What can i say, the difference is superb, I went the the shop and they showed me exactly how to do it, and they wouldnt let me pay until i took her for a spin! which is great service. I would recommend the superchip to ANYONE who has a one, the difference after 4000rpm is amazing! The car is superquick now! Cant wait to race my mates who have coopers! And as for that Vauxhall Corsa, well, i should leave him for dead! I asked as many questions as i could yesterday, and most of my questions before were answered, here they are; 1: Will this affect my warranty on the Mini one? No, it is completely undetectable, however just to make sure, if your mini ever goes into the dealer, just reset it to standard and they wont notice a thing! If you leave it on, the only reason they will get suspicious, is the fact that the car is more responsive, oh and the fact that it takes off after 4000rpm!!! 2: is it worth it for all of that money? Worth Every penny, if you aint happy, you get a 7 day money back guarantee! 3: Does it remove the "red lights" that are on the rev counter? Nope, the lights remain! Like i said, its undetectable 4: Does the MPG Change at all? (When driving normally, and when thrashing!) I asked the lad that talked me through it, and he said, on average the fuel goes up by 4mpg! which is amazing! Havent quite noticed yet because i havent filled my tank. 5: For the people who have it, what was the customer service like, and was it easy to do? Customer service @ Lohen was second to none, it was superb. will use them for all of my Mini Bits, very helpful. As for the people @ Superchips, they are superb, i emailed them, and they replied within the hour, and answered every question i had! Overall, the product is superb, and anyone who has a mini, needs one of these! As for insurance, at the age of 18, my insurance went up by £75 (cheap as chips for the results!) I figured i had to tell the insurance company, just incase my beautiful mini gets a bump and it invalidates the cover! Cheers for reading and i hope its made you Mini one owners want one!!! Robbie |

Offline | think a bluefin will only give an S about an extra 3-5bhpd so for £300 very expensive and no you cant use your friends one as it locks itself to the car and needs to be sent back to superchips to be reset if you want to use it on a different car at a cost of about £150 i think but then it will be useless on the first car!!!! Hope that makes sense!! If you want extra power from your S talk to Roland at GTT hes done some of the other cars on here and from speaking top people at runs etc. he's the man in the know. Online | Bluechip Re-mapped Mini One Insurance in the UK? I wish I could get a deal like that! I'm insured with BMW's recommended insurer in the UK. I told them I was thinking about an engine re-map and asked them how much this would increase my premiums. After a lot of thinking about it, they decided that they'd better calculate the increased premium by looking at the increased performance of the car. After they did that, they informed me that they wouldn't be able to insure me on a re-mapped car until I'm 25. I've only just renewed the insurance with them at the end of March (paid annually in advance) and I can't really afford to cancel it to switch to a more agreeable insurer because I'd lose so much of my paid premium when trying to get a refund. This seemed ludicrous to me because others are seemingly getting insured at very young ages on it. I'm 24 (passed my test at 18), I have 6 years no-claims bonus - although I have been in two very serious accidents. ![]() The first accident, I was hit by a drunk driver in a transit van - absolutely nothing I could do about it, I was minding my own business and the police concur that I was not at fault. It was a head-on collision with a closing speed of 60mph... the van driver then re-started his engine and rammed me off the road into a ditch (with my girlfriend and I trapped inside) before driving off and abandoning the van a few miles away. My car (a Peugeot 106 at the time) was a complete write-off and as I was only insured third-party, fire, and theft, I was never reimbursed. The second, I was stationary, waiting to make a right turn into a road and someone rear-ended me - they just blatantly did not look where they were going and drove into me after a long straight and maximal visibility. Again, I was not at fault. This time, the other driver stuck around and his insurance fixed my car (£3,000 worth of damage to my precious Mini One!). ![]() I wonder if these accidents - even though I was declared as having no fault in either by both the insurers and the police - could be the reason why I am unable to get the insurance company to approve a bluefin re-map. ![]() In any case, no bluefin re-maps for me until I can figure out a way to convince the insurance company that I am insurable on a re-mapped One. Any suggestions? Many thanks, Andrew. |

Offline | Many insurance companies just don't insure mods on under 25's, it's nothign to do with you personally it's just their blanket policy for all insurance premiums. The only way to get insured with the Bluefin is to either wait a year or choose a different insurer.. |

| MINI2 Regular | I'm very interested in this bluefin but am slightly unsure as to whether the dealer would be able to tell whether I've got one or not. Now I know people have been saying that you simply remap it back to what it was before you had the bluefin but surely because it's a little computer on the car then it's going to remember all of the tinkering you are doing to it? Ultimately then, wouldn't BMW be able to get out of the warranty if they detected it? |

Offline | first 2 years of driving it is only 6 points, lots of people who have jobs where they need to drive to earn a living can appeal to keep their license however I assume this does not apply to the first to years of driving where they are more strict? |

Offline | for your first few years of driving you only get up to 6 points on your license, then they take it off of you. and its not like you would have a driving job because you have to be 21 usualy so i dont get how you would have 15 points... |
