MINI ONE - First Car

Well finally the time is here after years of waiting to get my first car. I have managed to persude my dad to get me a mini one and he has said he wouldnt mind using it also to put a few miles on (so as not to depreciate his own car) so all is good.

Basically im looking for a black mini one debaged with the aerodynamics bodykit and with alloys of some description.

I worked out that the cost of this its affordable insurance wise cause there would be no mods on it (e.g. cause the bodykit etc is from mini) so thats good.

I was wondering if anyone knew what the price of this would be and if you can get that bodykit on a one. Also what are the largest alloys possible for the car without getting silly and if you reacon white stripes and/or roof would look good. And if anyone recommended anything really mods wise e.g. alloys. tires ICE etc bearing in mind in my age (17)

Cheers....

Thats sounds like it will be a nice MINI ifyou find one and get it looking like that!

Altough the Bodykit is a MINI accessory it is still something that needs to be added to the policy as itsan optioal extra and not a standard fit item!

You cant really put a price to a car without knowing the specifics of what you want, year, milage etc etc!

I recently got an 02 plate mini one for 7499 from an independant dealer. The spec is (you will have to bare with me on this because I haven't learnt all the proper words yet!!):

16" star(?) alloys
Panoramic sunroof
Red seats & interior
Debadged
Salt Pack
24000(give or take a few hundred) miles

Its not comprehensive but its hard off the top of my head. The stereo i've got in mine is awesome, my boyfriend is quite envious of it!! If you want some pictures or anything give us a shout and I will put some up although I will have to give my mini a wash first .

I do love my mini, you're lucky to get a mini for your first car, I had a fiat punto and it was like driving a bean can! Hope I've been of some help!

yer well if all goes to plan that what will happen...

basically cause my dad wants to use it as well (ill get priority of course) he wants a sporty looking car, like me, but cause of insurance will have to get a one to start with but i plan to keep if for a while and gradually mod it up performance wise. At the moment planning to get a pipercross viper, miltek and some JCW parts but they will all hve to wait till i get a bit older and insurance is affordable on them.

Just wondered also if anyone had any thoughts on some cheap mods (insurance wise) on say a stock mini one with alloys...performance or looks....

cheers

im in your boat too, only young wud love a cooper s but not a chance on insurance! if i were u id start with lil mods like chnage side repeaters and things like that, only little things but all add up to making the car look sweet. Ive got a one with aero kit, cooper s wheels, clear rear lights, clear side repeaters, front fogs and black grill.

In the future im goin for the lohen upgrade to 130bhp, gonna pop a dual exhaust on, and probs go for 18's. You dnt really wanna go much bigger. 18's and lower it will look the nuts!

Ill get sum pics on maybe after ive cleaned it today!

Good luck pal!

cheers man, just checked out the lohen website. Looks brilliant. Got my heart set on a MINI one with those pro race 1.2 black alloys looks sweet on a black mini! Will be a year or two before i get any performance mods though but lohen stage one + milltek and pipercross viper is looking good. Think black lights will look good as well...
got £2000 saved up for mods if i can get my dad to pay for car + first years insurance but that looks unlikely...

i bought my mini one privately off a lady, 15000 miles on the clock, for 6000, granted it was pretty standard but i soon changd the stereo, and put new s wheels on it, and already after spending only 500 quid on it, she looks better, grabbed myself a lovely bargain, so there are some out there,

For a set of black lights you could try some tinting spray and they will come out like mine, all the light shows up as normal!

Yes there are Legal as long as you fit a small red reflector some were close to the rear lights!

MINI actually have a set but they are expensive as all MINI items and options are!

I got mine from a local autoparts shop for £12, halfrauds sell it for around £16 but the can is half the size...

or Ebay

TAIL LIGHT TINTING (TINT) SPRAY BLACK BLUE OR RED NEW - eBay, Other Exterior Styling, Exterior Styling, Car Tuning Styling, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 17-Sep-07 12:33:17 BST)

Make sure if you use is, it drys in direct light such as the sun or leave the lights on in the garage etc, i didnt and when you dont the tint goes matt gray colour and not a shiny black, i had to sand mine down respray, laquer them and polish with a porter cableto get them looking like that.

If ilet them dry in the light t would be fine!

Learn by ya mistakes hey!
