| MINI2 Newbie | Hi yeh you can fit the cooper s spoiler to a one but i think it does require some drilling but maybe wrong, Your best bet which is what i have done is get the Aero spoiler which looks really good on and is easy to put on as it is just glued, If you look on Mini website accesories you can find the aero spoiler there for roughly £150 i think, Hope this helps, |

Offline | I put an S rear roof spoiler on my Cooper, it requires two small drilling holes (be precise when measuring), but open the rear hatch and look at two black plastic pieces on each side of the roof part (inside of hatch) , that is where to drill the holes - the S spolier comes with two "pins" that you need to stick in the drilled holes and put a screw on the pin (uncertain of correct english word for it, maybe you understand), and then a specially designed double sided tape comes along. Use a primer to clean surface after drilling, and then put the tape on the spoiler (you clearly see how it will fit), lower the spoiler gently and make it fit in the drilled holes - put the screws on the pin, use a spanner or another tool, and there you go - all ready to go ![]() |

Offline | As Chrisone points out, it is probably easier to put the Aero spoiler there, but I really like the S spolier. The shape is more unusual compared to other spoilers on ordinary cars, and one of the things that made me decide I really wanted such a cool spoiler on my Cooper. Good luck CoNs, whatever decision you make - let us know the outcome of it all. |

| The White Stuff | The S spoiler is a direct(ish) replacement if you have the optional chilli pack spoiler (the small ones found on the ones and coopers). I put an S spoiler on a few days ago - You have to lift the hatch and pull off two plastic caps (one on in each top corner) then unbolt a nut on each side. Thats the easy bit done, now comes the hard part . With the chilli spoiler, as well as being bolted on, its stuck onto the roof with, what looks like tiger seal (like a double sided adhesive tape), probably for water leakage reasons - you have to get a thin flat head screwdriver or similar to prize the spoiler up, like you would with a crowbar...so you can cut away the adhesive. It's a bit of a fiddly task and its best to have 2 people do this like I did - one to hold the spoiler up and one to cut away the adhesive, and remember to have a cloth or something padded underneath the screwdriver so you don't damage the paintwork...too much. I got a few slight nicks :S. The hardest bit is right at the beginning prizing the spoiler up, once you've cut away one side of the spoiler the rest is reasonably easy - you can just score down the middle section until you get to the other side. When at the opposite side to which you started at you only need to roughly score around the edges of the spoiler adhesive - then you can use the whole spoiler as a handle to twist the last bit off. You gotta be rough and gentle :P. Once the spoiler is off you'll have little bits of the adhesive sealant still stuck on the paint above the top brake light you can rub and peel most of this off but you might want to get a hairdryer and heat it up as it comes off easier like this. Now to fit the S spoiler at last, it should have the bolts and old sealant on the two 'feet' of the spoiler - leave the sealant as it is and just use the nuts that were used on the chilli spoiler to bolt the spoiler on, fini! p.s. the old sealant on the S spoiler probably won't be sticky anymore (mine wasn't) but as long as you bolt it on tight enough it'll be fine and still work as a water seal. |
