Thumbs up Engine re map ?

Im getting a one cab.in near future ,2004 model.
As I understand it the engine on the one, cooper and s are the same basic engine ,the one is de tuned and the s has a supercharger.

So which one of the engine remaps is the best bangs for bucks between GTT/1320 /Bluefin ?
Has anyone had the work done by any of these companies.

Do i need to upgrade the brakes as well ?
Also in terms of handeling whats the most cost effective mod ?

Appreciate any advice.

Well, the stock brakes are fine for the stock One and sufficient for the Cooper, I'm currently deciding what to fit to upgrade them as I have some engine mods planned, I prefer to upgrade the brakes too, but it's not stricly necessary I guess, unless you bring your MINI to the level of an S. Then I would surely recommend upgrading the brakes.

AFAIK the bluefin gives the best bhp/£ ratio

There isn't actually a rear brace available for the convertible, what I have though is the front (under bonnet), lower and mid-chassis brace from Roland at GT Tuning . You don't have to have all three - the under bonnet front brace gives the most difference, but the other two really do help

They really do make a difference to the ride and handling Here's a pic of mine:

Is one make of strut braces better than another ?
I know that the Audi RS4 22 ml anti roll bar when fitted to the standard A4 is claimed to make a huge difference, its the same design ,just thicker is this the same with mini ?

.....and as for brakes, I went for the drilled discs (stock size but perform better) and EBC Greenstuff pads - all fitted by MiniMania (MINI Coopers by Mini Mania) for less than the cost of stock brakes

Pic for you

There are many strut braces available, there is an OMP one which is cheap but on some cars makes the bonnet not quite seat properly. Then there is the John Cooper Works brace (JCW) which I had previously, worked well too , but the GTT brace is in a league of its own.

I had the AMD one-Click, but that was back in 2004 before the days of the Bluefin

Bluefin is by far the most popular choice these days - claims to take a ONE up to 125bhp, although in reality it will always loose out to a Cooper due to gear ratios etc

I had you down as a GTT man ?
Im tempted by GTT re map and get the strut fitted at the same time and if the exhaust is on its last legs get that done as well...................

Rang GTT today they reckon can get up to 130 bhp out of a ONE,so pretty similar to bluefin. My only concern about the Bluefin it sounds like a one size fits all, whereas the GTT sounds more like a re map specifically tailored to the individual charatersitics of the car (?)

All Bluefins are individually set up for the car they are applied to, which is why you have to specify your model/engine etc when you buy one.

I have BLUEFIN, fitted by LOHEN also the OMP front suspension strut brace. The BLUEFIN is fantastic, provided you are prepared to take the revs over 4k. It re-programs the throttle response in the EMU to that of the Cooper. Also consider adding about another 5bhp by changing the air filter. I have Pipercross also supplied by LOHEN. (Any commission guys? GRIN)

Its been a few moons since I have posted on this forum so forgive me if i'm repeating anything thats old news.

We stuck the MTH software on our One getting on for 3 or 4 years ago now. My son has the car and has had no problems at all. In fact, he works in a main dealer garage and has access to a range of cars, and in comparison, he would not change the One with the MTH mod for either a Cooper or a standard "S".

I cant comment on Essential Mini as I got the software direct from MTH and stuck it on myself.

Was a 1, now 1 of 150 in a 40
