What is the SALT pack?

Looking at maybe purchasing the Mini ONE but what is included in the SALT pack? none the brochures I have give details and I am def not psycic!

Also is it better to buy the ONE as I am only 22 and have made one claim on ins this year and my ren has cost me £1242 for my Rvr 25 or should I get the Cooper.

Other than the performance increase why would I buy the Cooper over the ONE? please help I am in a dillema!!!

Any help would be appreciated!

Buy British!!!!!!

Mini One

The salt pack is good value for money. I have had a look at my info and the salt pack gets you:
Volour Floor Mats,Brilliant Siler interior trim, Front Seat map pockets, Front Fog lights, Rev counter, Interior Lights and a high adjustable passenger seat.
I went for the One for the same reason as yourself. I am only 20 and insurance for a cooper was much more. I am really glad that I went for a one becasue there is not much difference in the performance and there are less One's around so its nice to be different. There also seems to be more different spec One's around than Coopers. I would go for a One all day long.
I hope this helps

H*ly sh*t. Hope this isn;t going to start another ONE v COOPER war

Both the ONE and Cooper are fab cars. At you age the insurance could be quite a bit better on the ONE.

SALT pack is good value and although I don't have the stats I'd think a very high proportion of ONE's sold have the SALT pack. The main thing for me you get with the SALT pack is the rev counter. Saw a ONE once that didn;t have it and it looked very weird.

If you add everything up individually the bits come to way more than £250. From memory

Rev counter £50
Fog lamps £90
Passenger seat height adjust £50
Mats £50
Brillant silver int £100 - NOTE YOU HAVE TO SPECIFY THIS IF YOU WANT IT
Seat back map pockets £20
Interior lights package ???£50???

Go order a ONE - you'll love it. Probably cheaper insurance than your Rover

Red/Black R56 Cooper Stripes, CHILLI, ASC+T, MINI HiFi, Piano Black Dash, Red Colour Line, Heated Mirrors/Jets, Spare Wheel, Smoker Pack!
Mods - Cooper S pedals, Cheqered interior mirror, chrome side repeaters

I had the same problem as you - ONE or COOPER ?? and I choose the ONE in the end - after tons of advice from my dealer and like 10 test drives in ONE's and COOPER's.

I've had it for just over 3 weeks now and I'm totally happy with my ONE and its the best thing that i've ever done !

I'm only 19 so insurance was a BIG factor for me too - and it saved me about £500 so well worth it.

Defo get the SALT pack - for what u get its value for money ! I wanted the options and gadgets that you can get on a COOPER and you can get the same on a ONE

In the end i think i think i got EVERYTHING and it was still £££ less than a COOPER

ASC+T
Sport Supension
Rear Spoiler (body kit 1)
Chrome inserts
17" S-Spoke alloys
Sport Seats
Auto air Conditioning
Trip Computer
CD with BOOST
Salt pack

heres a photo so u can see what it's like

I think the GloveBox Lid is now included in the Salt Pack which increases the price to £270.
The contrasting roof colour and mirrors are expensive options on the One which I may choose but it's the insurance for younger drivers which will probably swing it for most.

Should have added that one of the hefty brochures readily available from your local dealer lists what is available in the Salt Pack and in full colour. Also lets you see the various ICE options and trim available. Worth a read!

I have to concur with me learned colleagues, the Salt pack is great value and is a must.

One other point - if you don't get it then when you come to sell the car on you may find it will be harder to shift because 99% of the other ONE's on the market will have the Salt pack. On this subject 15" alloys are also a must - the steel wheels look pants (sorry to any of you out there that have steel wheels but that is my personal opinion!) and would hurt resale if you didn't have alloys.

The Reference number on the brochure/booklet is 2 11 050 009 21 (L)2002 GM The title is MINI ONE. MINI COOPER. MINI COOPER S. It is now out of date as it makes no reference to the GloveBox Lid which is probably why the Salesman gave it to me in the first place.

Well thanks to everyone for your help.

Will have to test drive a one and speak to the dealer, obviously its that time of year where car sales are usually slow so might be able to get a good finance deal or something.

My rover is only a W reg making it just over 2.5 years old a superb car just underspecced for the price but mine must have been cursed by some midlands voodoo witch doctor. When I picked the car up from the garage the same night my girlfriend broke the rear window, then 1 year later some bloody idiot jumped up and down on the roof and bonnet. Had the repairs done at dealer and you would never know the damage that had been caused but I do and that is maybe why I am looking at getting another motor.

Don't want to spark another debate but the main reason I have previously been put off buying the MINI it is now BMW and not MGR and also cos of the big problems initially found with them, but I have decided that cos they are still produced in the uk it is keeping some of us brits in jobs!!!

Buy British!!!!!!

But BMW nearly put thousands of British workers out of the job when they were trying to sell Rover

Must admit I prefer to help keep jobs in this country by buying goods made here. We are losing too many jobs as it is. Our overworked/underpaid politicians haven't done much to help industry - more of a help themselves culture with their shorter hours, better pensions and 40% pay increase which they say the Firemen they cannot get.

Smiffy thats when I bought my rover it was at the time when BMW was trying to sell them off and people did not want to buy rovers as they did not know if rover would be round for much longer.

Likewise I bought my diesel Rover45 at the same time. What a bargain! Good acceleration, excellent fuel economy, comfotrable - despite all the slagging Rover seems to get.
I'm looking at the possibility of a diesel MINI if I can wait that long
