| DU07 OHO | My ONE is chipped! Hi All Just got back after having my ONE chipped and its like everyone has said - It doesn't really kick in till about 4-5000 revs. but when it does it WOW! I think someone would realise the difference a great deal! I also think, not sure if everyone else who's got their ONE chipped does that it seems to be quicker off the blocks as well! I should think, although I haven't timed it in anyway, the 0-60MPH time would be about 8 seconds or there about thats very rough considering the only thing I've been doing since I've had it done is slinging it round corners on the private roads a few miles away it makes so much difference now if you take it to about 6000 revs. to change-up and it just absolutely flies! Anyway, just thought I'd tell you all! Taking it out to for a proper spin on Saturday possibly for 10 minutes or so on the track so fun is bound to follow! Anything any other Chipped ONE drivers want to add or anyone else for that matter go ahead the more the merrier! Cheers Pat ![]() ![]() |

Offline | Glad you're enjoying your flying machine Did you get your car tested for BHP before and after? Wondering if this is part of the price and am interested to know if your standard ONE showed up at ~100 as Superchips tested. Cheers, KenL Red/Black R56 Cooper |

| DU07 OHO | Hi All First, yes it was a Phase 2 chip! Second, it wasn't actually fully tested before and afterwards although the guy who fitted my chip didn't have his usual equipment with him, only the stuff for the neccessary things like actually fitting the thing! So I don't know - you may be able to ask whoever comes to fit it to check the BHP before and afterwards and the call-out charge is free as long as its not too far away! I would say though that it actually feels like an extra +30/40BHP but for some reason, probably because I'm easy on my baby, I can't wheel-spin Santa Pod sounds good and so does the dyno-day! Well done with the Coopers Williams1! Pat ![]() ![]() |

Offline | they are on about the superchip stage 2 chip for the One which is exactly the same as the superchip for the Coop ![]() it gets installed at a superchip dealer but it aint really installing cus they jus remap yer software so theres no physical alterations ![]() yep I noticed that.... my car wud spin the wheels easier and more before it was chipped.....I think the reason for this is the torque band is no slightly higher up the rev range but also the clutch tends to slip due to the extra power going through it. I think u'll find tho if u do give it a proper good oofing it will spin the wheels and also spins em in 2nd for a while too (best dun in the wet if you like yer tires and clutch )Yes they are defo quicker off the line Well 8 seconds is about rite, tested mine against another car who's time is 7.8 and it was basically the same ![]() on the revs thing u mite sound this sounds a bit harsh but u will find that if u take it the full way rite round to 7000rpm it's even faster due to bein further into the power in the next gear ![]() |

Offline | does chipping your MINI void your warranty? I'm wanting to get my ONE chipped but worried that my dealer may tell me to " get to " with my warranty (has already done once...). I'm wanting to have my MO chipped but i'm thinking that prehaps the AmD OneClick would be a better option since i could re-apply my original ECU map when visiting my annoying dealer... Thoughts anyone? 2004 IB/IB MINI |

Offline | This is something that I'm worried about as well, I'm also wondering whether it will affect my TLC. Also, is it really necessary to tell your insurers? Is there any way they can find out? |

Offline | Well if you have a major crash and the police investigate it your insurance will be void. It's the same as saying you do 3k miles when you do 25k. They won't find out but they won't pay up if you make a claim.... |

Offline | as far as I know they don't void yer insurance they jus don't pay you out the full price they knock off the percentage that you saved by not telling them about mods. and how they gonna find out if BMW can't even find out?? ![]() jus sum things to think about ![]() |

Offline | Well my cousin was in a car accident recently and the police checked every inch of the car. They checked it much more thoroughly than BMW do in a normal service and they were actually looking for mods, rather than just checking the car was ok. That would only happen if it was a major crash I admit, but it still could happen. The 3-25k miles comment was probably wrong (I am very cynical in regard to insurance companies ) and they would probably pay out less like you said. But if you had a crash and injured someone because you were speeding i'm not sure they would be willing to pay out if they sued you. Other than the police investigating it there's no way the insurance company could ever find out though. |

Offline | Nope, they void your insurance completely as you have committed a criminal offence in insurance fraud. This leaves you open to being sued for unlimited damages by third parties. I think I mentioned this before but the insurance assessors (I have a mate who is one) are well aware of chipped MINIs and other cars. Anything that looks the least bit non-spec is gone over with a fine tooth comb. Your best bet is to be upfront and declare the mod. After all on what grounds could you argue that a MINI one with the same power as a Cooper should enjoy a significantly lower premium? "Do try to keep up Nigel!" |

Offline | With insurance the onus is on YOU to declare all material facts - your contract of insurance is to insure the vehicle you have told the company about. Chipping a One to Cooper performance would be seen by any Ins Co as being a material fact. So if you have to make a claim, and it comes out that you haven't disclosed all materials facts, the Ins Co could leave you high and dry. You might think that having to bankroll your own repairs is bad - imagine having to bankroll someone else's repairs and personal injury claims.! Modify your car by all means - but don't drive around without insurance. R56 AB Cooper |
