361 miles and no red light.....

...and I bottled it - filled up before the red light came on coz I thought it might have failed or something. 361 miles is 30 miles over when it normally comes on! Filled up and it was fine, took 38 litres to fill it which is about normal.

Working this out tells me I got 42.9mpg from the last tank! Does mpg normally improve with time or am I just getting old?

Very impressive you old git

I've had ~43mpg after a long run on the mway, normally 33-35mpg in my ONE. I've never noticed the economy improving over time - now at 9000miles.

My red light comes on at 230 miles in my MCS.
This then takes approx 37 litres to fill up giving me around 29mpg which aint bad for an MCS.

and 37 litres seems to be a consistent fill up volume too.

Only had mine a week and I'm doing 190 miles to half a tank. Do I drive like a granny or something?

I think that you will find that the 'bottom' half of the tank will go a lot faster than the 'top' half.... as if the guage is calibrated wrong...

Ah yes.
You will only get a linear fuel gauge reading if the fuel tank is a perfect 'block' shape. if it changes shape to fit in with the body car then you'll get weird fuel gague readings. the first half always seems to get used faster though implieng the fuel tank is somewhat conical.

Mine did 42 to the gallon no matter how I drove it. Put 16" wheels on it and its down to a constant 36.

Poor old Dom and Hat. Dom cant remember what its like to drive a MINI and Hat cant remember what 36 to the gallon was like

Was a 1, now 1 of 150 in a 40

I used to get low 40's out of my First ONE. Since I have had my second ONE with the 17's fitted I seem to average between 32 and 35. Even on a run on the motorway all day the highest I have ever had is 37. The lowest I have had is 24 and that was when I was having a mad week (Sorry MINI!)

I have done just over 700km on 40L of fuel just as the lite came on. Thats 48-49MPG. That was acheived on a long flat Canadian highway. Didn't shift or stop, even for a pee.
I was impressed.

LOL If you have ever been to Canada and seen some of our long straight, flat highway travelling through Ontario and Quebec it would explain everything. Pull out and atlas and you will have an idea.
