Offline | loosen up Had my Mini One for a month now, and I've just gone over 1200 miles, Still haven't had it over 4000 rpm and I've been not to holding onto gears too long while running in. As soon as it touched over 1200 miles, I don't know if it's my imagination or what but it seems to have got about twice as quick. I've read that it takes 3000 miles to really get one of these things fully run in. Did everyone else's loosen like this at 1200ish too or am I going mad? Is it going to get better still after 3000? cheers JN |

Offline | Ours is a year old in May and has covered about 7500 miles, ran it in as specified by BMW and then gradually increased the revs over the next couple of months. Got to the red line after 3 or so months and all I can say is having driven a new loan ONE and cooper the running in gradually has made loads of difference, The car pulls evenly in all gears and is extremley smooth, also the gearbox seems to be more positive. I know its frustrating, not planting your right foot, but well worth the wait. Astro Black Cooper, bullets, leather, tints etc |

Offline | I've done nearly 8000 now since December and it's definetly smoother and feels quicker. Gearchange has improved (although it was excellent to start with) and the engine revs better now also. And I'm sure the fuel economy has improved too but that could be just me driving like a granny most of the time! ![]() Only thing that's getting worse are the squeaks and rattles.... ![]() |

Offline | I have to agree with Ned, my One's on 10700 miles , and she has been far smoother over the last three months than the previous 7. So far the car is getting better with age. http://www.mini2.com/gallery/personal/index.php?gallery=Marts |

Offline | I'm about to find out what a difference running in makes. I ordered my new car today to replace my terminally unreliable ONE. Come July I'll be able to make a direct comparison between the old and new. I've done 18,000 in my Sept 01 MINI so I suspect there'll be quite a difference - could be frustrating for a while! ![]() |

| Loud and Proud | My car was a demo, so I doubt it's had a proper running in period. But having said that, it feels alot smoother than loan Ones I get, and also the engine seems alot more muscular. Don't know why. The car's done 14000 miles. 2001 MINI One, Chilli Red, 130 BHP, Big Grin! ![]() 2003 MINI Cooper S, Chilli Red, 163BHP, Even Bigger Grin! |

Offline | 22,000 Miles One i`ve had my 1 for over 1 year now an done 22000 miles so far, it is superchiped (30+BHP), Janspeed manifold/sports cat-On Magnex Back box, piper x air filter, FSE boost valve - lowered etc, in total generating around 147 BHP. My point is that over the last year and 22000 miles i have had a couple of times where i wanted to trade in and get another car due to such problems related to clutch twice, gear selector once and gear box once which were all tested an proven not my fault and genuine failures. But now after all this experience in the One i`ve realised i love it! The car is cosy and well balanced, and it don`t lack speed even as standard (although i have a tendency to like to go fast up a straight road, like a 60/70 MPH, because there is fun in acceleration but road racing is stupid) and if you want more speed the only thing you need is the money because there are many ways in which to increase the BHP of all mini`s |

Offline | Super_mini have u had your car rolling roaded? 147 BHP seems a bit much for just bolt on Mods. New Mini Sport only claim 145BHP with there kit which also includes a new Cam and Cylinder head. I'm setting myself a target of 145 BHP with my One but so far i haven't got very far cos of lack of funds! So far my car has done 10K miles and it has loosend up nicely, kept it below 3K RPM for the first 1K miles then topped it up with Slick 50 at 8K miles. But its still hopeless under 3K RPM. Had an S for a day a few months back and i think that spoiled things for me! it had only done 200 miles and i gave it a good thrashing! Wanted to buy one but insurance was not sensible enuf! The only risk in life is to take no risk! |
