"S" Bonnet

I have just "acquired" a new Cooper S bonnet to
fit to my daughters Mini One. Has ANYONE done this conversion??? Can I use the bonnet scoop
to get some "useful" air, or do I block it off
and fit a blank mesh grill. I don't want to get into a "poor mans clone "S" debate, we both happen to like the shape of the "S" bonnet, and, as I pay it, I love the insurance, and running costs of the "One"

I cant see the air from the scoop being all that useful, but I cant see it doing any harm either.

S cap - fair enough, but an S bonnet?? When I saw the ONE with the S bonnet, I couldn’t help but laugh. Sorry to be so negative but it looked wrong. The Cooper S has more flared arches than its cousins, which complements the S bonnet.

Why does it look Wrong?

Last time I checked, The Cooper S has the same body shell as the Mini One, except for the bonnet. So why the big deal, fit a set of mag wheels and the fuel filler and you'll fool every one into thinking you've go a Cooper S while you've saved a heap of money.

Don't let these "S" people worry you, as they are obviously worried about why they didn't think of that idea themselves!!!

Don't forget you can still exceed the Speed limit in you Mini One

Do whatever the hell you want, its your car!!

Dont be put off by other peoples opinions.Car styling is definatly a personal thing,as long as you like it then thats all that matters.

It doesn't.....its arched are more flared. Makes the difference.

Styling is a very personal thing your right, but he asked what we thought. So I told him. I meant no malice.

Really? I've never noticed. Is it the front and rear arches? And is it only the black plastic bits?

Thanks for all your positive views
Well, MOST of you The bonnet is to be fitted this satueday !!! Just to put you in the picture,
Its a "ONE" its Liquid yellow, it has body coloured mirror caps and boot handle, bee sting aerial, aerokit roof spoiler, SOME interior chrome. Soon to have "S" bonnet ALL the above changes are about individuality. This car has put the biggest grin on the face of my daughter, and myself, than ANY vehicle I have EVER owned before!! To those ONE, COOPER, AND "S" drivers These are ALL special, I love 'em all

I'm not being clever but have you checked your insurance ?... insurers have a theory, for the mini for example, a One has a premium based on cost to replace, if damaged, robbed etc, but part of it is also on desirability to would be villains.... a standard S is obviously more costly to replace, more desireable to a villian etc etc, hench higher premium... however a One converted to look like an S will have the same desirability to villians, obviously not the cost though, but premium will be hiked up accordingly... A fully converted One to S style probably wouldnt be much cheaper to insure, as Mr Insurer will know that would be thieves will not be clever enough to notice it isnt an S...

this isnt about me having an opinion on it, each to their own I say (apart from that fully murdered Mini once featured in MaxPower !!)... would just hate something to happen to your car and then insurers wash their hands of it because of your bonnet... (you may well already have it covered, just wanted to make you aware if you werent already !)..

Glad your enjoying it...

Hi Andy After several posts about insurance, I thaught it best to check, there is NO hike in premium, but any damage to the front end would be replaced with standard bonnet They said something about "betterment" Were not interested in much at all really as long as it did not affect the performance I 'spose most people add expensive alloys to there car which would make it more stealable than a "hole in the bonnet" LOL

Great!! go for it..

I've got an Dark Silver/Black S, good on ya...

Get the 17 inch wheels and the roof painted black and then you're done.

Then I think you'd have the cheapest S in the world

Good Luck,

Parky

May the force be with you...
