Ride quality

Hi, I've had my 2001 One for a couple of months now. I recently had reason to make use of a dealer's courtesy car - a 2003 Cooper.

I was quite suprised to find that the Cooper had better ride quality than my One.

My One has 15" alloys as did the Cooper, although presumably the Cooper was running on Sports Suspension.

I've tried playing around with tyre pressures but this has made no difference.

The only conclusions I can come to are that either there is a fault with my One's suspension or that it's the tyre brand that is making the difference. Not sure which tyres the Cooper had but definitely different to my One.

Anyone else have any experience of this?

Cheers, James.

the cooper has a totally different suspension, which would make it perform totally different... I have driven all three (thanks guys) and have to say the One is okay, but not as good as the Cooper (standard) and that is yet again not as good as the Cooper S (Sports)

Also, the height of the sidewall makes a big difference, more rubber (ie 55+) makes the car softer, less (like 205/45R16's) would make it harsher, but higher performance.

The Goodyear tyres also squeal a lot, esp if they are under inflated...
