Angry delivery niggles

Just took delivery this morning of a pepper white ONE here in Spain.
Because of the spec ordered (air-con, leather steering wheel, CD player and alloys) the car took more than a month to arrive, and I was beginning to forget why I had chosen the mini in the first place. On delivery, though, both my girlfriend and I were justifiably pleased: great head-turning looks, kart-like steering, solid build BUT...we began to notice some faults during the course of the morning: the first was the plastic dashboard lip which had not been fitted properly over the anthracite trim - the dealer's mechanic sorted that out in 2 minutes flat. However, we've noticed other minor faults throughout the day which some of you may shed some light on how to repair easily: the one-touch function for the window on the passenger side does not work when trying to raise it, the cabin light does not turn on when the doors open and ( this is obviously one for the dealer ) the driver's seat trim has not been fitted properly - or there isn't enough trim! - as there is a gap in the seat when sitting down. All minor faults -granted- but they do put a crimp on an otherwise fine day. Any thoughts for you minnows out there?

Hi, welcome to MINI2, I'll answer a couple of your problems....

That's designed like that and cant be changed, official reason is safety, as there's no sensors to detect anything in the way of the closing window.

This should be added to the FAQs, it's a dealer thing, they've not activated them. Get in the car, close the door, press and hold down the central light button for a few seconds, it should flash on and off a few times. That's it, your courtesy lights will be activated.

That is poor, probably get a new seat to be honest.

Hope that helps, 2 out of 3 isn't bad.

Enjoy the car!

I don't think you get one touch up windows on the passenger side. Mine certainly doesn't have them - drivers side only.
If you're not happy with anything, take it back to the dealer. Pretty much all of them in the UK are used to putting right the minor problems which turn up. I guess its the same in Spain.
Its a pain having to get stuff put right which should have been done correctly in the first place - look at it this way - at least you get to drive to the dealer!

You do realise its a MINI2 law that you have to post pictures don't you?
Pepper White looks really good IMO!

Have fun!!

Hi flybynight,

I can give advice on couple of things you mentioned, firstly the one touch "raise window" on the passenger side wont work as it is a safety feature or something (totally pointless really) Also I have also had problems with my courtesy light I kept giving it flicks and tapping it and it has worked ok todate, not sure about the seat trim-Think that will be a dealer job.

You got any pics yet?

You beat me to it Paul - better answers anyway!

Its interesting you say that passenger side windows can't be one touch up for safety reasons, my parents 52 BMW 318i have one touch up windows on the driver and passenger sides. I wonder what makes a MINI passenger more prone getting trapped in a closing window than a Beemer passenger. I've never tried them in the back, perhaps I'll see if I can trap my mum next time I'm home......(just kidding mum!)

I noticed this on my ONE too when picking it up. On one side of both seats when you are sitting down you can just see the foam. Unless it's really obvious and obviously different then it may be normal.

Get the dealer to check it possibly comparing it with another ONE in stock.

Congrats on your new car, Pepper White is very nice and seems to be becoming more popular. Only waiting 1 month for delivery os very good, I waited nearly 3 months for mine.

Thanks to all of you for your prompt and kind replies, you've all been very helpful and when I work out how to send a photo via the net you'll get to see it! (Sorry if I seem a bit of a luddite...)
