![]() You can put lipstick on.. | upgrade to cooper ECU spec Here's something you might like to try, did you know you can upgrade the mapping of the ECU to Cooper spec?, whats it do, well it increases accelleration, and because the gearbox is geared differently in a ONE to a Cooper, the 'second gear' good points are carried on right thru the box. Its not a dealer option, but some are doing it. Does anyone else have a car with this mod. Might be wise to think about warranty before you do, but the results are pretty good. |

![]() You can put lipstick on.. | I knew this would get techie. The ECU is programmed on the car as it goes down the track, the programme is dependent on the model, so a ONE, gets the ONE spec software, The Cooper gets the Coop , and so on. But I'm told the actual electronic boxes are all the same!. So imagine your ONE got a headache and forgot what it was somehow, the dealer would have to re-prog the box. It seems that somehow, a few ONE's now think they are Coopers. And thats not just the owners ripping badges off;-) Whether this is sloppy workshop practise, or somebody is deliberately doing it I'm not sure. But I'd sure like to see what it's like. |

Offline | Thats exactly what I thought, I spoke to a cuple of BM know hows and they say it can't be done becasue they don't have the software so it must a be a manufacturing mistake!! I'm going to check another dealer first. |

Offline | hhmm lo guys new to this forum btw ![]() Anyway I've been looking at ECU upgrades for my one for about a year now... problems superchips will re-map your ECU and invalidate your warrenty but it will be undetectable to BMW diagnostics so unless they take your car out for spin there no gonna know price £ 500 approx gets one to 125 bhp now this I have found recently and I'm looking to do this as sson as next week Coolnews ECU one click product.. It will map your current setting and with one click upgrade your ECU with a new map via the diagnostic port under your steering wheel. It tkes 2 mina nd it's fully reversable so you can get your one upgraded and just return it to standard specs everytime it goe's in to the BMW garge for a service everyones a winner + the one clicks top map for the one takes it to 138 bhp... that combined with my K & N panel filter upgrade gives it 140 bhp approx.. now that will be rapid and the beauty of it is only £300 approx |
