Offline | It was going to happen sooner or later, then this month I got some back pay!!! So I went down had speaks with MInisport see this thread came home saying nooo i'll never do that!!!! <clears throat> So tonight(5 days later ) I broke and I just couldn't resist, went for the 30bhp upgrade![]() WOW, it feels like a different engine extremely smooth, pulls from lower down and none of that fuel cut off after 4500rpm, it comes on strong ![]() Makes the car a LOT nicer to drive, well worth the money, go out and get one you won't regret it!!!!! Piccys to follow!! Last edited by RedUn : Sep 18th, 2003 at 08:33 PM. |

Offline | Ok been up to the lakes init today and the improvement just gets better. On the motorway the car pulls lots better in 5th, no more changing down for hills or quick overtakes. The engine is also quieter yet nicer sounding. The car pulls strong in 3rd now all the way to say 90 and when u go into 4th it carrys on!!! The power delivery is now alot smoother and the throttle lag has been minimised. I think my fuel consumption is ruffly the same. All in all very good, from one extremely happy chappy ![]() KJ, my mate has a Cooper and indeed mine is now quicker ![]() he's chipping his now to keep up!! ![]() |

Offline | RedUn: is 5th strong enough now to overtake comforatably at 70mph on the motorway, without having to change down? I usually change down (in my Cooper) to 3rd for VERY fast overtakes. 4 usually cuts it, just about. |

Offline | RedUn: my Cooper takes off at 4k and above. Below that, there's hardly any power at all. Does the chip bring this down, so there's a lot more power at, say, 2.5 - 3k? Is there a noticeable "jump" from having little power to loads at (say) 3k (as stock), or has the chip evened things out a lot and made it pull much better all through the revrange? |

Offline | A little, but not really, the character change is not so marked as with the One, but it's an improvement none the less. Take a look here for a visual representation of the Cooper chip: http://www.superchips.co.uk/curves/minicooper.pdf |

Offline | Paul: thanks ![]() Had a ride in a chipped One (the big chip) the other day and it did seem to pull quite a bit better and rev freer. Also accelerated with more urgency. Paul: have you driven a chipped Coop, and if so, do you think it's worth it (£295)? |

Offline | Firstly RedUn can I say that I am extremely jealous. Have just been away in Wales and was gonna get mine done at Superchips franchise in Wrexham but the 500 notes put me off in the end. Think I might have to sort it out when I'm away next though. So a few questions How long does it take, and did you get a rolling road set up? If not how did you get the performance improvement figures?PS. d.griffiths, the superchips website is www.superchips.co.uk which has an outlet finder on it, I'm fairly sure there will be one in South Wales, and it also has the power curves and other stuff on. |

Offline | The car will pull from 1500rpm smoothly now, there is definatly and increse there, I've driven a Coop and the power does come in sooner and smoother. Mark a Chipped Coop will drive ruffly the same as a Chipped One. as said the throttle lag is gone now, the engine feels totally different and revs much quicker. It's defo worth the cash, you wont be dissapointed. I have some vids of my standard car i'll have to make some superchips vids so u can see the difference and hear it too ![]() |

Offline | RedUn: a superchipped Cooper (stage 2) will be exactly the same as a superchipped One (stage 2), since the only difference (engine-wise) between a stock Cooper and One anyway is just the ECU :-) |

Offline | Mark don't forget the Cooper has shorter gear ratios (10% shorter i think) so it's will accelerate slightly faster, tho the One will cruise better on the motorway due to the longer ratios ![]() |
