Offline | Second class citizens (or it it third?) Not wishing to stir up hornets nests (or even the Lesser spotted Chilean Bees) but do I sense that there is a pecking order in the MINI camp? The number one is- of course- the Cooper S, followed some way behind by Cooper with the One trailing in last. Yes I do appreciate the the Cooper S is faster, more accellerative, better handling and expensive and yes the Cooper does come with the sports suspension, different exhaust and more power but does that make us second class citizns? I think not- to quote the house doctor less is more- and in any case we can always improve them anyway- any comments? David |

Offline | What makes you feel this? We've got a One and an S in our household. Both fun, and I don't feel any kind of superiority or inferiority depending on which I'm driving, the S just gets there quicker, that's all. There aint no party like my nana's tea party |

Offline | I think you might have the wrong end of the stick mate. People here have bought the cars they wanted to buy, when they go on 'runs', people with Ones or Coopers are not told to stay at home, but come along as a Mini owner. There are even a few cases of people being disatisfied with their Cooper S and changing them in for other modles, even the diesel. One last thing about this forum: drive what you want to drive, and write what you want to write. All the best, Adam |

Offline | Also, if you go on a nice twisty MINI run, it's the Cooper and One owners who often feel satisfied, and the S owners impressed that the "slower" models don't struggle to keep pace at all! ![]() There aint no party like my nana's tea party |

Offline | There are definitely those on here who feel that the S is the far superior car, which is why they bought it. They are entitled to their opinion. Some people are a bit over the top (for instance, I have seen some pretty (IMO) dull signatures on here stating things like "My MCS is mightier than your MC", which is a pretty one sided way of looking at the cars. But the S does have more horsepower and if that's what it comes down to, I am a second class citizen! |

Offline | Huh - no smileys but I hope that was a joke. If not... ...I spend a lot of time posting congrats to lots of new MINI owners / MINI2 members. I't doesn't matter what the spec is - a new MINI always looks good. I don't recall any Works owners looking doen their nose at others - ever. For what it's worth of the engine modded crowd the Works owners are usually the ones who have to face a sea of "you paid so much" & "I've got more BHP than you" comments. Maybe you have a beef with one Works owner but I resent being included in your post. ![]() |

Offline | well I have had a drive of a One, a Cooper, and own a MCS, stil yet to take a test in the JCW and OneD (any offers accepted )But I would say I love all the MINI's with the same passion, and they are al as essential to success of the car, the fan base, as each other. So in answer to your question I have never had any problems with other drivers looking down on me, or looked down on any of the other variations, we are all one BIG happy MINI family as far as I am concerned. The only problem I have is knowing which one to drive? ![]() |

Offline | A joke I pressume? I mostly see JCW S owners being ribbed for their choice of tuner (and the cost), I cant really remember anyone with a JCW 'S' coming down on a person with any other conversion, or no conversion? There aint no party like my nana's tea party |

Offline | It's ridiculous to say there are second class MINI owners. All MINI owners are created equal except for Cooper owners of course who quite rightly have nothing to do with the rest of you hoi poloi.... ![]() |

Offline | I've seen it , heard it and read it. It's wrong but it's also human nature. Some people just have to feel superior. Same as some MINI clubs think they're better for X reason. Just sad really. Wish we could get the One over here. |

Offline | i like all MINIs just the same, it's just that some MINIs suit certain people better than others! personally i am VERY happy with my ONE, i wouldn't want an S! and that's not meant to be offensive to S owners, and is equally not denial, i am honestly happy with that choice, and i second what harpo said... i like to be seen as "class" tee hee... group hug for rakey's happy family lol |
