Depends on how heavy your right foot is! I understand that the light comes on when 1 3/4 gallons are left- I will leave the maths to you but don't run too low and get dirt into the injectors!

okay getting scared right now... never let it go dry but have been low before. you think it would be that bad if you let it run low? i would think that petrol these days would be very clean and pure? dont the engines have fuel filters? i thought it would be this that would get clogged? then you can get these changed every so often?

I usually try and fill within a few miles of the light coming on. Think there is 8l left so for me in my ONE I "could" go about another 60 miles or so.

yeah i'm agreeing with MiniDoug in that when the light comes on there's about 50miles left but personally i always top-up the tank when it gets to 30 miles left. I tend to use the computer display on my Rev Counter to watch my petrol leval.

Been over 50 miles with the light on a few times before, there is supposed to be 8 litres left in it when it comes on, but I've never managed to squeeze in more than 42 litres when filling up so it could be more (50 litre tank). I'd get nervous after 60miles though!

I got down to 8 miles once. Now that was scary as I tried desperately to find a petrol station in the middle of the countryside...!! Not recommended...!!

Yeah NED is right, there is a 8 litre (1.8 gallon) reserve so it depends on your style of driving and MPG as to how far you can go.

My sister has a BMW Z4. She managed to get the display to read "-----" and still managed a further mile to the petrol station.
