United-Kingdom Give me some roar!

Does anyone out there know of a way to get some induction roar on a mini one? Im only 17 and can't opt for an induction kit cos my insurance goes throught the roof- same with an exhaust back box. I've had the air filter out and it sounds great without it but obvoiously I need to drive with it in so I thought maybe a performance filter? Its rumoured K&N ones are best but are they the loudest? cos I'm not bothered about any extra power- purely noise! Also have low budget so its a tricky one i know but would appreciate any ideas anyone has.

I put the pipercross panel filter in and to be honest, I cant hear any difference in the noise at all.

If you are on a budget, how about looking for a second hand cat back exhaust off the site. Relatively cheap, no performance gain (so no insurance worries) but plenty of noise If you let your insurance company know, it may cost about another £20 a year, might be an idea to ask them how much first though.

Oh, and welcome to the world of the MINI ONE

Was a 1, now 1 of 150 in a 40

get a JCW filter kit or a PiperX Viper, they sound awsum, espec the Viper! dont tell your insurance or dealer, if you have a knock or need a service, jus swap the stock parts bak, only takes 10 mins. easy as!! zorst is a little trickier as you have to start hacking up the zorst to fit a back box. then you need a super chip stage II, ha ha ha

Im only 18 btw an doing you my 'one' major work in progress very soon i hope

Hi & Welcome to MINI2

I fitted a Green Air-filter purely for the extra 'roar'. It cost me £75 and £25 for insurance over the year. If you are fitting an air-filter make sure that you have a filter that doesn't suck in the warm air from the engine as this will make the filter ineffective (a long word for me, folks ). I eventually took off for this reason, but I must admit it did make a difference in the noise.

Hope this helps.

piperX viper has a carbon fibre heat shield, and makes a fantastic sound, and on a cold day can add significant power to the car

I bought mine through the MINI2 For Sale forum, keep an eye out in there for anyone else selling one - or put a note in the Wanted forum.

although these filters are cheap and give you noise, the noise isnt always that good! and the performance is pants, these could actually restrict ur performance
