Offline | Hi guys, This is a question for you guys who have had your mini for a while. Do you find that the more miles that you put on your car that it gets quicker? I'm asking, because generally ive heard that on BMW's (and others) that the car gets quicker after being 'worn in' a bit! so was wondering if thats true of a mini? |

| Back in a first gen. | I have noticed that since I've had my One it has slightly got a bit quicker. Whether it's just me I don't know. But last month it went into MINI for a complete 'fine tooth comb' check up and since then it's been better also. (I'm organising a factory tour for 26/5/04 at 9.30am - if anyone interested PM me ) |

Offline | Yes you car will get faster as it loosens off, everything is really tight and new when you get a new car, i think that whenever car mags test the Mini Cooper S there 0-60 times seem to be in the high 7s but these cars usually have only a few hundred or say 1500 -2000miles on the clock, I think if they tested one with say 20,000 miles on it would be quicker. I have 2500miles on my current MCS its loosened off a bit since new but its nowhere near as fast as my previous MCS which had 22,000miles on the clock. There was something on Top Gear a few years ago where they tested a Golf GTi with something like 70,000 miles on the clock against a newish one that had hardly been run in - the 70,000milers which was totally standard even beat the manufacturers times (something along these lines anyway). Lots of care and attention and a change of decent oil at regular intervals usually seems to do the trick - doesnt mean you cant give your car a good thrashing every now and then - just dont perminantly thrash the balls off it lol. |

Offline | Definitely. Ive had my mini for just over 8 months now and its done 23,000 miles!!! It has been cained from day one and is now a veeery quick cooper! I've proved this against other coopers with modifications (induction kits/exhausts) that I have beaten with ease (0-60 and top end) and mine is still standard. I was most impressed with my mini the other day after chasing a Mazda RX8 at ???mph through some twisty welsh roads! All I need now is a Cooper S! Enjoy your mini and get the mileage on it. U'll soon notice the difference!!! BenMW ![]() |

Offline | BenMW The only way to prevent tickets is to stick to the limit! Sensitive subject at the moment as my best mate was in an 8 car pile up on Friday...everyone was ok but shows you need to be careful! Happy motoring..oh and yes my car is getting faster...noticed it after the first 1000 miles! |

| MINI2 Master | Is the memory re-writeable? I was very cautious during my first 1250 as advised in the manual, didn't go over 4K RPM, I now have 2800 miles on the car and over the last couple of days I've noticed it's really starting to liven up nicely... I remember reading elsewhere that 4000 miles is also another nice step up as well ![]() So yes, the cooper gets better and better ![]() |
