Offline | Is my MINI One drinking too much Oil? Hello everyone, I need some advice. Checked the oil on my One yesterday, and I'm pleased I did as after just 412 miles, it was on minimum! I have treated this car with care and have not been above 3,000 rpm - yet. The dealer provided me with a litre of Castrol, so am I too think that the they expected it too burn a bit? Should I be worried? ![]() |

Offline | ummm....well my mini one has done about 3000 miles and the oil hasn't moved...so far as I can tell! But I wouldn't worry too much as I know that it is normal for some new cars to burn oil a little bit when they are new. Keep an eye on it and if it continues to drop then get the dealer to take a look. Also did you check the oil when you recieved the car? Maybe it was just low to begin with? Cheers and good luck! Offline | On most cars, the difference between the Minimum mark to the Maximum mark on the dipstick is about one litre. I'd guess that your car wasn't filled fully at manufacture. 0.5 of a litre saved per car is a lot of moolah when spread over 80-90,000 MINIs! Some cars do use a lot of oil when new - others don't use a drop. As a rough guide as long as it's not more than 1 litre per 1000 miles when new then it's OK. There is just one moon and one golden sun; And a smile mean friendship to ev'ryone; Through the mountains divide, and the oceans are wide; It's a small world after all. |

Offline | keep an eye on it, especially if you're doing a lot of motorway driving - I had a very big drop in oil level between 3000 and 4000 miles (all flogging it on the m-way). kjs |

Offline | Oil Level I would not worry toom much about the Oil. My Mini one has done about 4000 miles and itis just above the Min. It did not use any untill about 3000 miles then it has used a litre. I drive many new cars(Being a car sales dude) and all new cars use a little. ![]() If she's not smoking she broken! |

Offline | My moms 3 series burnt a bit of oil within the first thousand miles but we were told this is quite normal for new BM`s so can`t see why there should be any problem with the Mini`s doing this, mine has 1500 miles and the oil level hasen`t moved. |
