Cool chrome number plate surround

I have seen pictures of the mini one with chrome number plate surrounds and thought it finished it off really well. Can theese be fitted onto my existing number plate or are they a completely different number plate??

They fit behind a standard number plate. I have one fitted on the back of my ONE.

Exclamation Chrome number plate surround...

Gareth,

I have fitted the chrome number plate surround to my cooper. The back one is easy, just pull of the screw caps with a pair of pliers, unscrew the screws, put the plate in the surround and it literally fits over the top of it.

But...as the front of the mini is not flat, and the number plate surround is quite a brittle piece of plastic, I had to drill new holes in the front bumper as the holes do not line up once the surround is on the front plate. You could get new plates made up (like Jamiesim), but I am impatient, especially when it comes to my cooper!

Any questions, please ask...

Alex.

Pics of chrome surround...

My parents are away at the mo. But they're back on Monday, so the pic will be up then.

It is wicked on the front, kinda looks like its always been there.

Monsta stuck them on with adhesive number plate pads. He gave me advice on fitting mine. Because of the curvature of the front bumper you have to use a thin 1mm pad in the middle and thick 6mm pads on the outer edges.

The plate is VERY secure. Couldn't believe how strong the adhesive is! One little touch and it's stuck for good as I found out the wrong way! So just be careful fitting them.

Exclamation Bolt it...or face problems later!

Gareth,

Use the bolts and screws, much more secure than a couple of sticky pads, after rain, wind and ice...the pads will become useless!

The elements laugh in the face of sticky pads.

me don;t tinks that the sticky pads are gonna be all that cop either...

Water sits behind the plate, you probably saw all the water marks on behind the plate when you removed it, not the elements for adhesive, oh and if it falls off whilst doing 70mph+ on the motor way its gonna catch something on its flight... probably your windscreen!!!

Havew already fitted my reaer surround and going to have a new plate made for the front as I don't want to make any more holes in my bumper...

I've just tried to remove a plate that was stuck on to my rusty trailer with halfords 1mm pads.
What a job - there's no way that would come off !

- Suggest Screws and pads?

I was a bit sceptical about stick pads but they appear to work. Put a private plate on a Rover 3 years ago and no problems to date. Worst comes to the worst, just buy more pads aand stick the plate again
