All cars do this. It's worse in dry weather. Try changing your shoes, or hold onto the metal of the car as you climb out.

Yeah, almost everytime.

It gets quite sore after a while. I've mastered not touching the metal with my bare skin getting out

Talking

Yea I never got an electric shock off mine until the last few weeks.. The last few weeks have been drier than recently so maybe that does have something to do with it.

I only get shocked from the door handle though, nowhere else.. Probebly a good way to discharge yourself before filling up with petrol?! (Actually best not to try it, just in case!)

Some people have a rubber touch strip attatched to the rear of the car that is suppose to cure this dont know if it does as never had one, also never noticed one on a mini. I suppose it would act as a sort of earth strap.

England Ooouch!

I get shocks all the time! Sometimes I get lulled into a false sense of security as it doesn't happen for a while ... then it comes back with a vengeance ... OOOUCH I started a thread about this and got loads of helpful and sympathetic replies, check it out. The most interesting solution was to wear nothing but rubber pants and boots to drive ... haven't tried that one yet though!

or if you have a piece of metal with you like a key or watch, let that part touch the car first to discharge yourself. you may hear / see a spark. then all is fine.

i know this thread is pretty much dead, but i have to ask...
everyone experiencing static, do you have non-leather seats?

i recently downgraded from a Cooper S to a One, going from leather to cloth, and have exerienced static ever since!!
