I've had a couple of Cooper bits fitted to my One, including the chrome grille and mesh bottom grille. The mesh bottom grille was actually fitted by mistake, and was according to the dealer a pig to fit. My advice is to specify what parts you want before taking delivery of the car, my dealer has fitted them all for free as part of the deal. Shame i'm still waiting for the other half of the chrome grille.

Personally I think the One looks nicer than the Cooper. I find the black or white roof and mirrors rather vulgar (just my personal opinion). The colour coded roof is fine if you ask me. I also prefer the black plastic boot lid to the chrome one. What i would change however is:

- radiator grille above and below should be silver. (we thought that came with the "silver pack" (on the body) but funnily enough it doesn't, despite the silver strips on the front and back bumpers). I'll order those and fit them as soon as I have some cash handy.

- door mirrors should be same colour as the body. That's something we'll definitely do as soon as we have the time.

BTW Does any one know how to pry off the covers without damaging the plastic. Thanks !

today I ordered the chrome grille parts and bottom metal mesh grille for my ONE.
I think the car looks too strong with the black grille, but with the chrome grille the MINI looks like smiling to you ;-)

Has anybody just removed the glued middle lip of the ONE-grille ?
I tried, by I fear to damage the bumper..

ONE Chili Red, Chrome-Grille, 16" 5-Star Wheels, fogs, Rear Spoiler,
AirCondition, Sport Seats, Alu Patina Dash with Chrome rings

Hello PIT

I'm just about to do the same thing. Both the top part of the grille and the bottom mesh look easy enough to dismantle / reassemble. BTW how much did the parts cost?

About the middle lip I think you're right - it's glued.
I suppose that by dismantling the bumper one could gain access to it but I'm not prepared to do that for the sake of one black lip.

One thing I didn't mention above was the side grilles. It would be great to exchange those for chrome parts, but even the Copper doesn't have them. The Copper S has but they have a red S in the middle, which I don't particularly want (not wanting to pass for an impersonator). Does anybody know if chrome side grilles are available from an aftermarket supplier?

YEEEEEHAAA !

Gave my ONE this afternoon the Chrome grille
now he has the MINI-Smile on his face !

The middle lip was not easy to change cause its glued
and holding like the devil.

At last I warmed it up with a hair-dryer and hoisted it
with some wooden sticks to loosen this bit.

Tomorrow I´ll change the bottom black plastic grille
to the metal-grille. Because the AC-cooler I think I have to dismantle the bumper for this.

Smiffy you will make it !
Do it as explained above.

I still assambled the bottom metal-grille this morning.
The bumper had to be removed, but its quite easy if you know the right screws ;-)
3 spanner screws (10mm) at the bottom of the bumper
and at the left and right of them a cross-screw are to remove.
Then you remove a 8mm spanner screw at the left and right.
They are a bit hidden
But You reach them from the arches:
there is a hole (5cm x 2 cm) at the arches to get in
with the spanner.

At last 2 xorx-screws above the bumper to remove - and voila: the bumper comes out !

Disconnect the lamp-cables and outdoor-temprature-sensor-cable,
so you can lay the bumper down ( on a cloth ).

The metal-grill is easy to assamble, its clipped.

If you start the engine after assambled the stuff, there will be a acustic warning-signal like "bim-bam", but its harmless:
The temprature at rev counter will now show -40°C because sensor was disconnected from the electric,
and it will take some minutes to let it count and adjust
to normal temp.

If you have no Air Condition, maybe you need not remove the bumper, but the room at the mesh is poor anyway, and someone here told of chilired arms after this job

Thumbs up

Thanks a lot PIT for the useful info! That's exactly what these forums are for

Have any pictures? that would be even better (can you attach pics to messages on this forum?).

I'd still like to add the side grilles in chrome...

Another "Cooper bits" question:
is the handbrake silver or black on a Cooper? I saw a Cooper the otehr day and it was silver. now on our One with Silver pack it's black, even though the rest of the dash, gear console, doors, etc, is silver. the dealers says the Handbrake shoul dbe black on a One, even if it has the Silver pack

ideas, anyone?

Mr Shelton, how easy was it to fit the clear front bulbs, as I was thinking of fitting some to mine.
Thanks
