Question Sport seats

I've just been in to change the spec of my MINI One and added sport seats - at an additional £170...or so I thought!
I was then told that I have to pay an extra £440 for cloth/leather as sport seats don't come in cloth only....
Is this true?
What do other 'One' owners think - are the Sport seats worth the extra £610?

I need to make a decision pretty quickly as my car is finally in 'pre-build' (I've only been waiting for 2 months so far!......).

All advice would be most gratefully received!

Cheers!!

Have you tried the standard seats? i've tried both and prefer the standard ones - but it's a personal thing. However £400+ sounds a bit expensive to me!

I've got the sports seats on my cooper and when I had a one as a courtesy, I found the normal seats to be unsupportive. However, when I first test drove a MINI, it had standard seats and I didn't have any problems then - I think you'll only notice the major difference when you're used to sports seats.

In short, if you can afford it, do it - it's worth the extra money if it doesn't pose any financial problems. Don't forget you also get half leather seats. If you decide not to, it's not going to effect your enjoyment of the car too much!

Hope that gives a little idea...

Dom

A bit pricey..

Go for the standard cloth/leather. This is perfectly fine IMO.

May the force be with you...

Sport seats do come in the cloth only!! or at least they do from my dealer!!

i think you only have to upgrade to half leather if you want to go for the red interior!!

RESPECT THE MINI!!

Early cars did not have the cloth sports seats available, but my December build Cooper has the cloth sports seats. Hard to believe they are not available now. My experience of dealers is they do not really know what is available! I was only told cloth sports seats were not available several days after I'd ordered the car with them. I chose to delay delivery till they were available. I'm pleased I did, though really I'd prefer even more lateral location than the sports seats provide.

Yesterday I changed my order at Cotswoldmini and have just changed the standard seats in Aqua material to sports seats in Kaleido material for £170.00 no problem.
Hope this helps

Thumbs up Thanks Folks

Thanks for all your replies folks - especially interesting to see that some people (smiffy/crunchie) actually HAVE the cloth sport seats in their 'One'....

Now I'm back home - I've been through my brochures & price lists - both old and the new ones I picked up yesterday and they all state that cloth sports seats ARE an option for the One...there are some things which you cannot get on a One and they are specifically blocked out....

I can feel a *ahem* strong discussion with my dealer coming on......!

Sports Seats

The Sports seats are well worth the £170. My New Mini has got these seats and I much prefer them over the standard seats my last Mini had. Heres a picture of them.

I'm a bit late on this one but I have to agree with Dom: the standard seats feel fine at first, but when you sit in them after siting in hugging sports seets (whatever make the car) they just feel like they lack support.

I'm a bit angry that this "sports seats" option seems to be more and more widespread among car manufacturers, especialy German ones. Why should it be an option? Everybody wants to feel comfortable sitting in a car, nobody likes to wander left and right whenever a corner comes up... . So-called "sports" seat should be standard - i.e. all seats should be supportive in corners.

Just my tuppence worth...

Safety fast!

This is all subjective, but I found the standard half leather seats to be very comfortable (presumably the leather/cloth mix adds some support) and more so than the standard cloth seats which also gave me backache. The beige cordoba seats are more supportive than the standard leather seats and the sports cloth seats on the Cooper S were more comfortable than the full leather sports seats which tended to dig in to one side (despite several adjustments), even on a car which had already done 500 miles.

As for giving a choice, certain people may find that the sports seats could be uncomfortable on long journeys, bearing in mind that the seats are narrower than (for example) the Renault Clio's. I'm quite thin but still found that the leather sports seats took a bit of getting used to - your mileage may vary of course.

The cloth sports seats also look much better than the standard pattern ONE seats

Agree with you smiffy, an alternative upholstery option would be welcome to some ONE buyers.
