Does anyone have the Primo Viaggio SIP Child-Seat?

I just wanted to know if this fits in to the rear seat of a Mini Cooper OK? We looked at it yesterday in Mamas & Papas as we're thinking of buying the Pramette and it comes with an adjustable base which you click the car seat in to. I'm a bit worried that the base is too wide for the rear seats in the Mini though?

Does anyone have one?

I have tried this seat and base, its a nightmare product.

Did you know that they launched this seat over a year ago, and it got recalled for serious safety issues

Might be worth you trying to find the old Which report on car safety, as they slated it too.

They have now re-named it, and have added the base, I still wouldn't use this product if they were giving them away, but each to their own.

Ohhh feckity feck - it looked so promising in the shop! I'll dig out the Which report and have a look at it

Thanks for the heads up!

sorry to be so negative on it, but its one of my least liked products, there are far better seats out on the market, so you'd be better off buying one of those rather than one because it fits on a pushchair

There are other pushchairs you know which work in a similar way to the Pramette, infact some are better Bebecomfort Loola, Silver Cross 3D, Jane something or other, and all of these have much better car seats IMO

No, I appreciate your advice Rakey! I quite liked the look of the Loola and the Silvercross but they seem to be quite heavy - maybe I'll take another look at them

We really took to the Pramette though, especially since it has a cup-holder for Mummy's Frappucino on the handle

I remember using a similar car seat in my old Cooper. With the passenger seat slid as far forward as possible and the backrest folded, it still scraped the plastic backrest and the door pillar - it was really tight getting it in and out.

I would avoid buying from M&P stores as their customer services sucks. If you have to buy M&P products then buy through John Lewis so that you don't have to deal with M&P if there are problems.

Oh God, are M&P a nightmare for customer service? I think I've accepted the fact that I'm going to have to contort myself to get any car-seat in and out of the back of my Mini and I've also come to terms with the fact that there ain't no pram small enough to fold down in to the boot!

However, I love my Mini too much to part with it

the Silver Cross 3D should be in stores in about 2 weeks time hopefully and it does all the same things as the Pramette, and more

As for finding a product that fits in the boot, the Loola should and so too the Quinney Buzz, if you go to the right retailer they should let you try fitting them all in the car so you can see which is best for you and your lifestyle. If they don't then they aren't worth buying from, as making sure you get the right product should be more important than them getting a sale.

but you'll find they don't stock half the products on the market, and that most of the staff are part time kids that don't have the expertise of say an indepentant retailer or John Lewis, so they wouldn't be my first port of call, and I used to work for them many moons ago

pretty good products, but not ideal for a newborn.

A newborn should be able to lie fully flat and face towards the parents for that important bonding in the early months

Just listing stuff that fits.

A baby carrier fits easily too, they're great.

Unfortunately I have a JVC 12-CD changer in my boot, which takes up half of the space! Baby or CDs? Hmmm.........
