Offline | Need Child Safety Seat Suggestions I am about to take delivery of my MINI and need to find a child safety seat the can utilize the LATCH system (I'm in the USA.) My baby is 5 months old, so I need a seat that can face REAR and later FORWARD. Any suggestions for specific brand seats in USA? Britax Seats come highly recommended but I'm not sure if they will fit facing rear. I appreciate any wisdom on the matter! -scott I hate to drive! But I LOVE to MOTOR! ___________________ 2003 Mini Cooper PS/ Black Roof, Red Int. Bonnet Stripes, Red Int., CVT, SAT NAV, Performance Pack., Sport Pack. On order. Expecting October 2002 |

Offline | Don't you love how new simpler saftey measures are implemented and everyone is compleately confusd? Any way Latch = Isofix. Same thing, they say. All cars and carseats manufactured after 9/01/2002, sold in the U.S. have to have the LATCH system in addition to the standard method (feeding seatbelt throught the back). Now I cannot for the life of me figure out if ALL carseats(remember they will all be ISOFIX) are required to fit ALL cars? I'm wondering if if you use it the "old way" it will work in all cars but the same carseat will work with the LATCH system only with certain cars? I don't think child safety should be this confusing.![]() |

Offline | Here in Europe the ONLY child seat that can be LEGALLY used (i.e. won't invalidate your insurance) is the BMW/MINI approved child seat. Britax does an ISOFIX seat, but they have not been approved yet. |

Offline | Bummer. Price gouging start yet? In the U.S. we have (or will) have numerous choices. For the next few months carseat manufactures will still be unloading warehouse stock of carseats (built pre-9/01/2002), but after that the choices should be as abundent as always ("But honey I think the hunter green paid clashes badly with our Electric Blue MINI") Check out http://www.car-safety.org/latchfaq.html or if you have the patience try http://www.car-safety.org/ |
