Mums and dads - your help required!

been quite a while since I was last here, but I need some help on the subject of baby seats that fit the MINI.

My partner and I are expecting our first child in about three weeks time. I've looked through all the old threads on the subject, but can't find the answer I need. Simple question:

Which rearward facing group 0 car seats fit in the back of the MINI? I don't have ISOFIX.

The BMW/MINI seat is a touch pricy at £280. I also think it is immoral that a dealer will charge £200 or so to deactivate the front passenger airbag.

Cheers

The NON ISOFIX 0+ seat is £180 including VAT, the ISOFIX is £280.

To charge £200 to turn off the airbag is, I agree, disgusting. I guess they are thinking short term profit over long term happy customer?

What would they then charge you to switch it back on later? £400 in total?!

But anyway, the price is £180 for non-isofix, hope that helps.

turning off the passenger airbag isnt that simple in the MINI.

it requires a new seat belt...and pre tensioner. and then you have to get the airbag out to change the harness at the back of the airbag.

maybe they should have changed the design to turn it of with a key.

In my 406 Coupe that's exactly what it was - a simple turn of the key and the passenger a/b was disabled!

ISOFIX (Most of the world outside US) = Latch (USA).

Rustle: Thanks for the link to the car seat. Very cool, I agree, but one for the baby to grow into (group 0 is for babies, and is a rearward facing design).

Minty: if only

Cheers

To be honest if you get yourself an MPV you won't have to worry too much what your other car is. I got ISOFIX mountings for resale purposes primarily. I do take one of the nippers out very occasionally in the MINI but it is rare.

It's best to use a NON-ISOFIX group 0 rear facing baby seat to start off with. Babies just grow too quickly. This is what I recommended to Paul .....

Then buy a Britax DUO ISOFIX forward facing for £160 (available Baby's R Us). They say that certain seats aren't recommended by BMW and not tested by them. But the majority of car seats haven't been tested in some cars anyway!

Hmm, I think that if we were in this position , we would buy a rearward facing one for our dull car, and once the rug rat had grown out of that, buy the bmw one that would last him/her a couple of years.

Clubman less....

when they're very young you have to use rearward facing seats by law anyway (In the UK).
