Offline | I'd start off with a "Snuggly". Great way to carry young babies when you are out-n-'bout. The warmth from your body and the sound of your heartbeat soothes them. You can go about your business and they sleep the sleep of the innocent. I'm way out of touch on strollers and car seats. I would check in "Consumer Reports" they review them regularly. Offline | You wanna make me cry? I carried my baby around in a snuggly for a couple of years. Then onto the back pack and he loved it so much. Got to dig up those pics and scan them in for you all. ![]() "Sunshine and Peace." - Maxamini ![]() |

Offline | OK....we are hoping to get one of the new UK designed Silver Cross "compact" strollers to use in the MINI and for using as the fast and light stroller. The other, fantastically expensive stroller system, is a Dutch thing called a Bugaboo Frog. You get a very cool frame and then you can snap on thier a bassinet, a car seat or a srloller seat. Here are some pics ![]() |

Offline | I carried two babies around for a couple of years. However, It is a little much to carry one on the front and one in the back pack. Did it a few times but only where the footing is very secure. Looking down at that little tiny face, mostly just the top of a head, just below your chin as you walk about. Feeling the warmth of their body, and for a guy, feeling them move so close to your body. It was a wonderous thing. HEY, where'd I put those piccys? Motor on, Dudes and Dudettes!!! Offline | I saw this thing called a "Baby Bjorn" that is a sling like papoose that allows you to hold them against your chest...I really like the idea of having one of those...haven't gotten the Rakey seal of approval on this item though...as he and DC have informed me it is very important that an infant is able to spend time lying flat...so not too much time in a car seat...I hope a sling is ok because it seems like a great way for Dad and baby to bond. When I was a kid my parents carried me around in a cardboard peanut-butter box---they always called it a "Jiffy-box", which was somehow a confused mix up of the name for two popular brands Skippy and Jif. Mrs. Spy Car has informed me that using "Jiffy-boxes" is one family tradition we WILL NOT be carring foward. ![]() ![]() |

Offline | Oh gosh. Babies just love to be loved in any box they find themselves in. Let's get back to nature. One thought I had when I was giving my baby up to the world (giving birth) was "Wow. Women have just squatted and given birth in the woods when they had to." So all our complex arrangements for making them comfortable and secure may not mean that much to them at all. ![]() I also know someone who was cradled in the drawer of a cabinet because his parents hadn't much else and they felt secure in that little spot. Mommie and Daddie loved them - what else was necessary? ![]() "Sunshine and Peace." - Maxamini ![]() Last edited by ruthie : Jan 31st, 2004 at 11:58 AM. |

Offline | I'll inform Mrs Spy Car that Auntie Ruthie says a Jiffy-box is plenty good enough I'm making fun of course...as the matter-of-fact...I'm the one pushing for the fancy stroller. And we are in total agreement that love and attention from parents is far more important than buying a lot of junk. The Bugaboo is just so darn cool...even comes with a 21st century version of the "Jiffy-box" as part of the whole deal. ![]() |
