Works GP collectable... Offer Closed - sorry

Now closed. Manufacture in 3 days.

I'm putting together a special offer for all Mini enthusiasts, and especially Works GP owners. The item is a laser engraved 3D image of the Works GP in a solid lead crystal glass block. The item is of the finest quality, much more detailed than other mass produced items that you may have seen before. Furthermore, for those people orderring that have a Works GP, each block can be indevidually and uniquely personalised with your own GP roof number encorporated.

The cost to me for developing this has been considerable, and to recoup the money spent I need to order 50 of the blocks at a price to you of £38.50. This doesn't include package and posting.

This does not include any scope for personal profit from this item, so really, I'm doing it for all the 'wrong' reasons. I cant see it ever making a 'profit', but if it did make a net profit I will give that to the Mini2.com charity.

You might think that this price is rather high, and perhaps unreasonable. However, please bare in mind the following:

First off, the design is guaranteed not to be reused. It wont turn up again elsewhere, I have protected it - so the company has to pass all the design costs on to me. Yes, another company could do it as long as their project was from 'scratch' as well. The creators of such designs are usually freelance, and they add their designs to resellers websites. This isn't the case with this product. So there is a cost to be recovered in the sale price for this.

Secondly: The design is much more highly detailed than the mass produced products that you may have seen around before. The creation process has taken many weeks, and the company has agreed that each one produced can be different, in terms of the customised roof number. Without this factor, it wouldn't in my opinion be a truly collectable product. The initial one produced will have the number '1966' btw, as I thought that this was the best number I could think of for a GP (apparently England won a football match that year)

It must be remembered however, that this is not an official BMW/Mini product. The item you are buying is very much an artists impression of a GP, and some features may not be exactly the same as on the car, for many various reasons. These reasons include artistic impression, the emphasising of certain features for clarity, the omission of certain features for again, clarity and also technical reasons with the product. So you are buying something that is someones genuine artistic creation, not some perfect CAD creation with no detail 'errors'.

Order count down.....

In order to place the order, I have to have another -2orders placed. In other words, we have reached the correct minimum number!!!! Many thanks. I can still take orders for the next couple of weeks until they are actually made though....

The photos do not do justice to the delicacy and clarity of the image - the camera seems to magnify the light hitting the lasered image. Its a lot smoother and also sharper in detail than is coming out in my photos. The depth of the image seems lost in the 2d photograph, as does much of the finer details.

More photos uploaded, but its is a very difficult thing to photograph, and I am not a professional photographer.

The block is designed to be viewed from the front (longest side), and therefore side views are technically not great - bit like looking into the side of a fish tank - depth and dimensions are skewed by the the properties of the glass/refraction etc. I have not been able to capture a decent 'side on view' of the block, and as there are so many layers and components building up the image, even to the naked eye the clarity of the end on view is confussing and fuzzy - to the camera its a bit of a mess. In essence, you will not be gazing at the block from the side views and it wasn't designed for that view either. The side (front and rear car) photos were extremely difficult to capture, as I don't have a manual focus camera. Also, you are seeing both the front and rear (and interior) of the car from one perspective in each photo, therefore, the lack of symmetry between front and rear greatly confuses the image seen by you, and this is magnified when you transfer the 3d image (which has depth) to a 2d photosgraph. Added to that, the image has a lower quality when viewed from the side, as its been designed to be viewed from the front.... anyway I'll let you decide.

Watch this space for more details soon.

DELIVERY TIMESCALES

I can only place one order for this production, so I'm going to have to put an order date together for when everyone will have had to have orderred and paid for their pieces. This will mean that I cannot place the order until I have at least 50 committed purchases. So there may be some further delay if people are slow to order. please, if you want one, order as soon as possible.

Once I place an order, delivery from manufacturer to ME will be approx 3 weeks. Delivery to you will be whatever time it takes the chosen courier service to forward it to you from that point onwards. As I will be waiting to place an order in 'bulk' with the manufacturer this could be some time before your piece is manufacturered (because they will all be 'unique' to your order - no preorderring can be done). So please consider this when you place an order - I wont be able to get 'rush jobs' out for birthdays etc... sorry.

************************************************** **********

PLACING YOUR ORDERS:

Please PM me or direct email me ( anthony_thomas67@hotmail.com ) to order.

I will then send you an invoice stating the above particulars, and a selection of payment methods (although would vastley appreciate paypal or UK cheque - will look into sending money electronically tomorrow). REGULAR Block details

All important pricing......
OK, if I can fulfil an order for 50 in total (and we're close but not quite there at this time, the prices are as follows:
Small block: £38.50 approx $77.00 US

If too many people back out of this, I wont be able to supply at this price and we will have to reconsider.

If all 50 sell, the only margin for any kind of 'profit' (I am not including my time and effort in calculations - so completely unpaid for this project) will be approx. £1 per piece and that will go to the current Mini2 nominated charity. If anyone wishes to review my expenses at the end of this I will gladly make all details available.

If you have a paypal account, I can send you a money request.
If you have no access to paypal, contact me and we will arrange other methods.

Postage is of course additional to this price.

Price for an illuminated base is £11.50 if ordered with your piece.

Object dimensions:
80 x 50 x 50mm ........ 3.25 x 2 x 2 inches
Weight
0.556kg / 1.2lbs

POSTAGE and PACKING COSTS.....
Please see below for indicative postage costs.

Normal mail:

UK.....................................£8.00
Mainland Europe............£11.50
USA...................................£14.50
Australia...........................£14.50
S.Africa.............................£14.50

Courier Service (UPS, Fedex etc)

UK.....................................£8.00
Mainland Europe............£52.00
USA...................................£46.00
Australia...........................£63.50
S.Africa.............................£63.50
MINI

LARGE Block details

Large Block: £148.00 approx $295.00 US
Weight ; 4.1kgs!!!!! nearly 10lbs...!!!!!
210 x 105 x 80 mm - 8 x 5 x 4 inches.....

IMPORTANTDue to the large weight of the Large Block, postal and courier costs are 'extreme'. I have decided to not offer regular postal service on the Large block outside of the UK due to the risk and cost of sending it in this method. Postal costs turned out to be almost as high as courier costs anyway, and this didnt include the higher insurance cost.
Postal costs
UK...........................£14.00
USA.........................Sorry, not offerred (would be £65 without insurance)

Courier costs
UK...........................£14
USA........................£82

Please read carefully:
Postage costs: Many countries mail service is unreliable at best. You would be advised to opt for the courier service, and I can assure you these prices have NOT been loaded with a 'profit' margin like most Ebay sellers do for instance. Prices will vary for some other countries and I will get accurate postage costs on an as needed basis. The 'normal mail' costs include insurance cover, but claiming refunds on such insurance is a long winded process and I cannot afford to replace a lost or stolen crystal witout first settling an insurance claim. The courier service, whilst much more expensive, means you can track your item and are all but guaranteed delivery - they simply don't go 'missing' like they can with the postal service.

IMPORT DUTY
Any recipient outside of the European Union may well be asked to pay import duties or other local taxes. They will be your responsibility if you are asked (it rarely actually happens but can). In the USA, Australia and similar countries these are usually standard % of value, however, in other countries (South American, African etc), these figures are simply 'made up' by the local authorities and could exceed the value of the item.

So, have I got your interest....???

Please pass the message around btw - the more that order, the more likely the price will meet my target of around £38. I re-iterate - I cannot make money on this project at this price, and if I cant get the support for it, I will have to cancel it and cut my losses. It then will never happen, which will be very sad in my opinion, as the item is so detailed, so precise, and so special.

Thanks for your support M2 and Paul.

Cool,

I take it this is one of those laser crystal things, right?

If I had a GP you'd have my interest, however I already have one of my S. It lights up with multi coloured LED's. I had to have it imported from Germany.

It was acceptable in the 80's

Very interesting - so that was what the plain GP photos were for.

I could well be on the list for the finished article

Will it be customisable with GP roof number & or registration number ??

Thats the beauty of this, yes, it will be customisable,. Probably just the Roof number though, the reg plate is already changed to ready just 'GP', which looks better.

The car itself will remain standard though, so sorry, no extra driving lights of viper stripes etc.....

Oh, and you will be able to order both left and and right hand drive versions.

However, they all have Recaros (Sorry USA)

My GP already lives in a box with his girlfriend.

Tony, depending on price after the exchange rate, I would be interested.

I'd best not share my thoughts on it, even though I was asked, but I'll not be buying one, bricks make good paper weight for me
